Omniscient reader's viewpoint volume 1 review 🌑✨💫

Can I just say i am so glad that @izepress picked this up and published it because the way this book HOOKED me on the plane is insane. I was sleep deprived, hungry and grumpy but this book immediately woke me up.

I picked this up in the korean literature section at kyobo in seoul (best bookstore ever by the way im ashamed to say how much money i spent there on books + cds + stationary....)

I did not feel overwhelmed at all while reading this, which I feel is quite common with fantasy books especially books that follow the isekai genre, although im not sure if this is even classed as an isekai. Kim Dokja is an entertaining character, he's slightly morally-grey however that personality type in him comes from the fact he wants others to become independent to have the best chance of survival, since usually relying on others causes natural selection to come into play.

I also loved the layout of this book, it definitely made it feel like im part if some video game with the different fonts and formats for scenario messages etc. I do have to say, the book got violent REAL QUICK so if you arent into violence, I would steer away from this.

Overall, im giving this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. I cant wait to get my hands on volume 2.

This is also my first post since getting back to the UK! My study abroad in Seoul was amazing, and I'd love to go back next year if it is possible! Im so incredibly grateful to have been able to go. The people I met were amazing and I still keep in contact with them! (They enabled by terrible spending habits and I enabled their spending habits too, we all ended up broke.)

Nightshade review 🌑🥀

⊹₊˚‧︵‿₊⊱·✶·⊰₊‿︵‧˚₊⊹

Synopsis:

Nightshade follows Ophelia Winters who is a scholarship student at the prestigious Sorrowsong University, which is full of snobby silver spooned rich kids. Whilst at Sorrowsong University, Ophelia investigates the murder of her parents while at the same time falling in love with her prime suspect's son, Alex Corbeau-Green.

Can I just say, I am incredibly surprised at how much I enjoyed this. I devoured this in about a week between classes. Nightshade was amazing, the tone of the story was set immediately by the first chapter with the pathetic fallacy which i felt that stayed constant throughout the whole book. Its like, I could smell the rain while reading the book. I also am not very big on spice, hence why I will not be giving this a spice level, however I did enjoy what was written for 'spice' and i really appreciate that it wasnt dragged out like many 'spicy' books are.

Along with the foxhole court, this is only my second 5 star read of the year. The murder mystery, the dark academia vibes and the tension and yearning just kept me so indulged with this book throughout. I do however have to say that I did see the plot twist coming, but with the set of characters we had, i think a lot of other people would have guessed it to be that person as well. I do also wish we got a glimpse of the other houses, but maybe thats a feature in the second book.

The books that increased my love for reading/got me out of a slump.

. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.

These are the books that inspired my love for reading. Warrior cats is literally the first ever book series i got hooked onto. I exclusively only read warrior cats up until i was 13 when I finally started picking up other books, but i still mostly read warrior cats. I dont read warrior cats anymore, but the series and community still has a massive place in my heart.

I hope this doesnt find you took me out of a 2 year long reading slump where I had absolutely no energy to read and its thanks to my friend for buying it for me. Without her, I wouldnt have read that book and started this account.

I havent read the holy trinity of trc aftg and capri, but i have read the raven cycle and the all for the game series. These two series will always be crazy nostalgic for me, they're like THE starter pack for anyone who was on youtube in the early 2010s or on tumblr.

Pick a slavic creature and get book recommendations!

⊹₊˚‧︵‿₊⊱·✶·⊰₊‿︵‧˚₊⊹

I love my culture, so i thought I would share a couple mythical creatures from my culture and put a traditional folklore song for the background music!

When I was little, my personal favourites were the wawel dragon (smok wawelski) and the basilisk (bazyliszek) and i think it just shows the creativity of the people from back then, but who knows, maybe the legends were true?

QOTD: whats your favourite mythological creature?

When sickness comes to the village, it takes the children first.

˚₊‧꒰ა🩸໒꒱ ‧₊˚

First of all, thank you so much to @claudiajfauthor for sending me the arc of this novella in exchange for an honest review!

Synopsis:

Our main character, Maeve, turns to the mysterious orchard beyond the hills of her village when her younger brother, Xander, becomes terminally ill. The other villagers speak of the orchard in hushed voices, claiming it grows a fruit which can heal anyone and anything. Desperate, Maeve sets out to retrieve the fruit for her brother. But be warned, the orchard always takes something in return.

Review:

This was a quick read for me. I started it two days ago and finished it today. The story was well-paced and didn't sugarcoat anything. I love the aesthetics of this story and the message rooted within the story, that grief will make you desperate. Although most have described this book to not contain a happy ending, I actually thought the ending was relatively happy, at least for one of the characters whose pain was eased at the end of the book. I did also like the mention of the others who barely batted an eye to the sorrow around them, simply because it was too tiring to deal with especially with their own issues and worries.

I would also like to state that the book has a beautiful layout. It was so pleasing to the eye that i loved turning the page to a new chapter to see the header illustrations. Just pure chef's kiss 🍓🍒🍎

Dungeons and Drama review 🧚🧌🐉

⊹₊˚‧︵‿₊⊱·✶·⊰₊‿︵‧˚₊⊹

Synopsis:

Dungeons and drama is a young adult romcom featuring Riley and Nathan. Riley is a musical theatre fanatic who gets herself in trouble and in return has to work at her dad's game shop. Nathan is a nerdy guy working at her father's game shop. A slip of the tongue and the two find themselves fake dating.

Review:

I judged a book by its gorgeous cover and im so GLAD that i did. This book was so easy paced and so so so fun to read. Personally, im not really into musical theatre so the only references I understood were the hamilton ones lol but even for someone who has no knowledge of musical theatre, this book made me feel included like i totally knew what was going on. The same goes for the D&D aspect of the book. I have only played d&d twice, but i understand the hype around it because it is crazy fun!

The romance in this was adorable, definitely felt like a teenage, high school sweetheart romance with a slight action-packed twist where Riley had to save her high school's musical. I loved the banter between the characters in this book and definitely the found-family aspect. Ive seen some people refer to this book as enemies to lovers, but i wouldnt consider it that as our lead couple werent even enemies, just had a small misunderstanding that got resolved rather quickly.

I will definitely be picking up the sequel.

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

QOTD: If you had to pick a class type for d&d, which one would you pick?

For my game, I picked a sorcerer elf!

Deathly Fates by Tesia Tsai review

꧁ ─ ·𖥸· ─ ꧂·

I originally saw this recommended by @daisypurple.reads and got hooked. The cover is absolutely stunning and the colour palette drew me in!

I think the premise was great, the story was quite fast paced as well and it was reverse grumpy x sunshine which honestly i dont see much. I did however find myself struggling to get properly hooked into the story because of the narration and plot overall. I felt that the plot felt very repetitive with the soul purifying, I did however like the backstories to the souls. But I did also feel that the tone of the story was quite flat and straightforward, there was barely any tension or anxiety spiking moments too.

Overall I give this 3/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

꧁ ─ ·𖥸· ─ ꧂·

How is everyone? I've been gone for about a month because I've moved to South Korea for a little while! It honestly feels crazy for me to say this since ive dreamt of this for as long as I remember and its finally happened! Thats the life update from me lol.

QOTD: If you had to pick a book to represent your chosen elemental power, what book would it be?

assassins apprentice review 🍃🍀🍁

꧁ ─ ·𖥸· ─ ꧂·

Ive seen a lot of people in this community rave about this series so i decided to get the first book. Honestly I didnt expect much but HOLY this book felt like getting a bucket of water thrown at my face. Ive seen some people complain about the pacing of this book but i didnt mind it at all!

I really enjoyed the world building and Fitz as he slowly aged. This world is quite unique and I felt like i was watching a movie instead of a book from how well Robin Hobb illustrated everything.

I also just want to give Fitz a big hug 🥹

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

QOTD: If you could pick an animal familiar, what animal would it be?

I'd pick a snow leopard! They just look like they'd be nice to hug with all their fluff.
