Meet the Bookstagramer!

I thought it was time for a re-introduction! I’m pagesofallie (Allie!). I’m 25 and I live in Minnesota. I’ve been on Bookstagram almost 1.5 years. I read lots of different genres, but primarily romance and fantasy!

“Shane—Mr. All-Black Grumpypus—wants me to give his penthouse the kitschy rainbow treatment? This man keeps surprising me at every turn.”

This was such a cute read! The pairing of our female main character, Willow, and male main character, Shane, was a surprising, yet perfect pairing. Willow is our wild, clumsy artist. Shane is our grumpy, baseball player. Their first meeting is Shane swooping in, and practically diagnosing Willow with type 1 diabetes. Knowing her symptoms and sweet breath (same as his friend who has diabetes) he literally swoops her off her feet and takes her to the nearest hospital to get stabilized.

Later, to help reform his image, Shane proposes everyone’s favorite thing...a marriage of convenience! To help reform his image but also to help Willow out with her bills and health insurance.

I loved Willow in this! Not only did I love her character, but her relationships with other. This was shown so much with the witty, authentic writing. A wife who knows nothing about baseball aka ‘sportsball’ to her? GENIUS! I loved it so much. I sat and read the first 40% in one sitting and had no idea how far I’d gotten. It was so smooth and kept me interested without even realizing I was reading!

I’d recommend this to a baseball romance lover looking for a sweet, witty read.

You Fall First by Julie Christianson

This was such a sweet read! I thought it was so cute and heartwarming.

I really enjoyed the wholesome and sweet aspects of this book and characters. Particularly, our male main character, Noah. He was the PERFECT man. He was all about family. He stepped up to be a father figure to his nephew when his sister needed it. When his sister has appendicitis and eventual complications from it, he takes on the full-time caretaker role for his nephew. All while serving as head of PT at a nursing home and memory care unit. Noah put so much on himself and really strived for perfection. That’s when Josephine, Jo, walked in.

Jo is flailing in life. She has both a teaching degree and a social work degree...but does not know what she wants to do with her career. Her current plan is continuing to live at home until she can save up and work as a waitress. That is, until she runs into Noah and his adorable nephew. Both who really need Jo in their lives.

I loved seeing Jo slowly start to fall into herself and her life with Noah and his nephew. She is clearly an amazing aunt to her siblings kids and passes this on to Noah’s nephew, Dutton. I loved watching all three of them and their relationship grow. With it, Noah and Jo try to fight their own feelings, but realize it’s hard to fight fate.

I really enjoyed this book! For me, it was a change of pace for a sweet, easy read. I’d recommend this to closed-door (or any) contemporary romance lovers!

An evening with Jasmine Guillory and Andie J. Christopher to celebrate Jasmine’s YA Debut “It’s Only Dancing”!

What another amazing night full of laughs and fun! Tropes and Trifles always hosts such great events. I bought 2 new books and brought 4 of Jasmine’s books from home. So happy to get them signed and personalized!

This book is a modern, hip hop, retelling of “Dirty Dancing” featuring diverse characters! I’m so excited to dive into this one!

The Last Goodbye by Laura Pavlov

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another amazing read from Laura Pavlov! Seriously, these books are making me want to read each and every single one of her books she’s ever written!

We get introduced to our main characters in book 1. Our reintroduction to them starts out with a bang where Briar, our female MC who is trying to buy Bass’s restaurant, bursts in claiming she’s ‘pregnant with his child’, even though they have never met. Bass, aka McGrumpy, continues to stand his ground and refuses to sell to Briar’s family’s investment firm. Briar, ever stubborn as well, decides to stay in Blue Sky Bay until Bass agrees to sell. As they start to come to some sort of business arrangement, they start an ‘enemies with benefits’ situation that grows into something more.

I seriously love Laura’s writing so, so much. Every character is so well-thought out and each relationship between characters has more depth than even what is on the page. We see that with Bass and his sister Jovi. With Bass and all his friends in town. Briar and her new relationships with friends in town and her father and brother. Characters are a huge thing for me, and Laura always hits it out of the park.

This is a must-read for romance lovers. Some featured tropes are small town, chef, found family, enemies with benefits to lovers, and much more.

Our male main character is a chef! What’s your favorite thing to order at a restaurant?

I love anything seafood! Especially if it’s their specialty!

Tessa Bailey and Denise Williams 💕

I had an incredible time at Tessa Bailey’s book event (on the day her book came out!) last night! Tessa has been a favorite author of mine for so long! It was a dream to meet her!

I think the first book I read of hers was “It Happened One Summer” and I was hooked from there! She is usually my go to recommendation for any friends wanting to get into spicy reads 😘 I cannot wait to read this new dystopian, fantasy adventure of Tessa’s now!

The night was just absolutely amazing! I laughed so hard all night and got to share it with some amazing bookish friends! (I don’t think I’ve been to a spicier book talk than this one! The words “the c*m doesn’t just disappear?” was NOT on my bingo card for Tessa to say last night 😂).

I was also so grateful to meet Denise Williams! I haven’t read her books yet, but bought 2 to add to my TBR! She was a great moderator for the event!

Who’s a long-time favorite author you’d just absolutely love to meet?

This week is stacked with author events for me! I had a John Green event Monday and Jasmine Guillory tomorrow (another favorite of mine who I have to narrow down to 4 books from my collection for her to sign!)

Never Been Tamed by Corrine Michaels

Out tomorrow, 10/6!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This was such another amazing read from Corinne Michaels!

I loved how real everything was in this book (which I’m realizing lately, I’ve been really loving. I love real stories with real conflicts and romance). Ares Pierce comes back to his grandparents small town after his grandfather died and he lost a patient. It is a real turning point in his life and you can see all that he has to wrestle with upon his return.

Then we have Harper Stone. Part of the Stone family who owns a ranch (who we meet in book 1 in “West of Forever” which I also HIGHLY recommend). Harper runs the books on the ranch and tries to keep her father in line as he continues to try to ‘help’ (which now is more of a nuisance than anything) out on the ranch still.

This book was everything I wanted and more! I am also a SUCKER for fake dating! I loved how this one played out. I could immediately tell this was the real deal as soon as they started ‘fake’ dating.

I highly recommend this one!
