Meet the Bookstagrammer with 26 facts about me ✨️

Seeing as I haven't done one of these since 2023, I thought it's time for a little re-introduction 🤍

Coming up with 26 facts was extremely challenging, especially as at least 80% of my life revolves around books, but I gave it a go anyway!

Let me know if we have anything in common!

Happy 2nd January, darlings!

My new year officially starts today as my housemates and I went a little hard on New Years Eve (we went to bed at 5am) and spent yesterday paying for it... 🤭

The first day is always a rest day, and the true new year starts on the second, and since it's the National Year of Reading in 2026, I'm making this my year for bookstagram. ✨️

I didn't need to reflect to know that I was slacking last year. Not only was work really busy with a promotion to adjust to, but I think I really got myself caught up in the numbers game... I felt so unmotivated to post and even to interact when all I was thinking about was how my follower and engagement numbers were dropping all the time. It got the point where I was finding the whole thing unenjoyable and there was a real moment where I almost decided to leave this wonderful community.

This year, consistency with bookstagram is my main goal, and while I do want to grow my account after being in a rut for the past two years, I'm not going to let myself get wrapped up in it.

This is year is for having fun with bookstagram, to post regularly, weite more reviews, engage and fall back in love with it all.

Here's to a fresh new start ✨️🍃

Have you set any bookstagram/reading goals for 2026?

November hopefuls 🍂

I actually refuse to believe that we only have two months left of 2026. This year has gone SO quickly and I've been left crawling behind...

Autumn makes me want to read classics, but November especially gets me in the dark and moody mood, so we're venturing into some Russian literature and a modern classic because I, of course, need variety ✨️ Romance is also another big one for me (especially while I put off the Liveships trilogy for yet another month).

The Very Definition of Love by Sophia Benoit
I'm cheating by including this one as I'm carrying it over from October. I'm halfway through and LOVING it. The spice is just 👩🏼‍🍳💋

White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Might as well lean into the SAD that comes along with winter and read something moody and melancholic. I've been excited to read this for months, so this feels like the perfect time!

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
This has been on my tbr for SO long, and I'm determined to finally tackle it and get over my big book fear... wish me luck!

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion (vol. 3)
Ugh, my new faves!! It took everything for me not to rush right into this one after finishing books 1 & 2 this month, but it's finally time!

I also need to find somewhere in here to read A Court of Splinted Harmony as I REFUSE to get spoiled!! Another ambitious November, especially as my calendar shows no signs of easing up, but I'm so here for the challenge!!

What books are you hoping to read this month? ✨️

Three bookshops you NEED to add to your London itinerary ✨

If you’re planning a trip to London this winter, then this is your sign to make room for a little bookshop hopping! 🤭 I've visited a couple of these before (though one a loonngg time ago), and the third is a new favourite. But all three London bookshops deserve a spot on your itinerary.

Daunt Books, Marylebone
A London bookshop icon and perhaps one of my favourites anywhere in the world! It's just completely gorgeous and a dream for all book lovers. I will say that it gets really busy, especially at weekends, so try to visit during off-peak hours if you want to fully appreciate its beauty!

Word on the Water
A floating bookshop on a canal boat? Say less. New books, second-hand books... this boat has it all! I first visited a few years before moving to London, but after going back last month, it's definitely somewhere I'll be returning to time and time again.

BookBar, Chelsea
The first thing I did when I moved to London was visit the Islington branch, but it's taken me almost three years to finally visit the Chelsea shop, and boy, do I have regrets! The staff are SO friendly, the vibe is wonderfully relaxed, and you can grab a coffee (or something a little stronger), chat with friends and sit amongst the shelves. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

I hope this gives you a few ideas for your next bookish adventure! 🫶

What's your favourite bookshop?

Things on my new bookshelf that just make sense ✨️

There's not many things I enjoy about moving house, but one small pleasure is getting to unpack all your books and reorganising them. I've gone back to organised by genre and alphabetical... the rainbow method just wasn't working for me!

Featuring my quirky little protector, a personalised book end (a present from my family), my favourite authors and of course... multiple editions of books 🫣

This looks pretth tame until you realise I also have an overflowing tbr trolley and a whole other full bookshelf at my parents house.

How do you organise your books?

Last, Now, Next 📚✨️

I've been in a little reading slump lately, but here's a little update on the books that have been on my radar in September.

Last: Elektra by Jennifer Saint 🏺
I started September with a bit of an Odyssey hangover, so naturally I needed a Greek mythology retelling. One of my critiques of the film (like many) was that I needed more from the women, and Jennifer Saint delivered. While the pacing was a little all over the place for me, this was just the read I needed, and you'll now find me as the biggest Agamemnon hater.

Now: The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig + The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
Two very different books, but I just can't have two from the same genre on the go 🫣. Having an audiobook has helped me get out of my slump, and I've finally read more than 6 pages of The Knave and the Moth... I'm just taking things slow and steady, but hope to finish at least one of these by the end of the month.

Next: The Very Definition of Love by Sophia Benoit 💋
Recommended to me by my work bestie, I'm so excited to pick this up. So much so that I almost put Rachel Gillig on pause for her. And how gorgeous is this cover?!

What is your last, now, next?

Life lately ✨️

Two months away from Bookstagram means I have a lot to catch you up on, so here’s a little snapshot of what I’ve been up to while I’ve been neglecting my little corner of the internet 🥲

I’ve been lucky enough to be at two Scottish crime festivals over the past couple of months, which has meant lots of books, working with brilliant authors and the lovely crime & thriller community. I even had a little free time during both visits to explore a little more of Scotland along the way. I’ve also squeezed in some family time and saw my mum in London and my grandparents back in Somerset which also meant I could return to my old stomping ground.

📚 If Bad Words by Rioghnach Robinson isn't on your tbr then you need to add it NOW. It's perhaps the best enemies to lovers romance I've ever read, and even better, it's about a writer and a literary critic based in New York. What more could you want?! Potentially a favourite for 2026 👀

🎧 A few albums have been on repeat, but The Rest is History has absolutely dominated my listening habits recently. How have I not listened to it before?!

🍕 Turkish, vegan, and iced chocolate... I've been trying it all!

Consider this my bookstagram comeback ✨️

Tell me what you’re currently reading!

September hopefuls ✨️

Life has just got so busy, and I won't lie, 2026 has not been my year. I'm not one to wish away time, but I am a little glad we're on the home stretch now.

With that said, some exciting things are coming, and I'm officially moving house next month!! I'm also off to a wedding in November and already have some cute autumnal things in the diary with friends, so I'm hoping this means things are looking up!

I'm also so excited for this month's selection of potential reads. I started September with a bit of an Odyssey hangover and needed to satisfy my craving for a feminist Greek mythology retelling, so naturally Elektra had to be the first book I picked up.

September is also the month for fantasy and my biggest anticipated releases including The Knave and the Moon, Paladin's Grace and the one and only B.K. Borison.

And, most importantly, I'm really excited to be back here. I've missed my little corner of Bookstagram and all of you bookish people. 🤍

Let's catch up! What are you reading/watching/listening to?

I'm forever late to trends, but at least I get there eventually ✨️

This made me realise what a mess my taste in books is. Apparently I like sad books with a side of romance 🤭

I do think I read fairly broadly and try to tap into various genres, but romance, contemporary literary fiction and fantasy will forvever be my three greatest loves.

And yes, Twilight has made the cut... I have no regrets!

Do we have anything in common? And would you trust my book recommendations based on this selection?

My taste in fantasy then vs now ⚔️✨️

It's funny seeing how your taste in books changes over the years.

When I started bookstagram six years ago, ACOTAR swept me off my feet, and following that, all I wanted was enemies to lovers, morally grey men and all the spice!

Now?

Give me politics, complex family dynamics, character-driven novels that have potential to wreck my life. And I can't forget the knight in shining armour 😌

Either I'm getting older, or my taste in men has simply changed. After watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms earlier this year, I found myself routing for the good guy. I swapped the red flags for the green flags, and I can't get enough! Robin Hobb completely changed the game for me with The Farseer Trilogy, and both she and George R.R. Martin have rekindled my love for epic fantasy, complex characters, immersive worlds, and the unlikely hero.

That being said, I don't think my old taste has disappeared... I'm still widely excited for the new ACOTAR book and have loved all the romantasy books I've read over the past few years. I just think my appreciation for the genre has grown, and I'm excited to keep exploring everything fantasy has to offer.... now my fantasy tbr is out of control!

Has your reading taste changed over the years? Or are you still loyal to the same fantasy books you started with?

August Hopefuls🌻

I promise this will be the last time you see Beach Read and Yes, Chef on my hopefuls list... these are books I need to read before the end of summer, and before I finally dare myself to read Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb.

I only have a few pages of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms left, and my plan is to jump straight into Yes, Chef so there are officially no excuses this time!!

I want to end the summer reading books that feel like summer, so who better than Emily Henry and Luan Goldie's Between Yesterday & Tomorrow? A book set during a London heatwave feels absolutely perfect for the ongoing heat here in the UK. (Apparently London is now in drought?! 🥵)

I'm also starting on my 2027 work reads this month, so August is shaping up to be a very exciting reading month!

What are you excited to read this month?

July wrapped 🌊

How is it August already?! July honestly got away with me!

It's been a bit of an emotional month, with my best friend in the house moving out. The rest of the month has been spent trying to find someone to replace her... an impossible task!

While it has been emotional, I was also sooo lucky to meet the lovely @coffeexthoughts after six years of booksta friendship! It was a long time coming, and we honestly had the BEST day exploring London bookshops and watching Heathers.

Because life has been so busy, I didn't get as much reading done as I would've liked, but every book I did read was fantastic, so I really can't complain.

Ratings (not including work reads) below:
5 ⭐️ The Knight and the Moth & The Ballad of Ronan McCoy
3.5 ⭐️ Honey

I also have a craving... and that craving might be Robin Hobb calling me...

What was your favourite book in July?
