Here are a few of my favourite pencils I’ve sharpened over the past month or so, and a look at the 3 main methods for sharpening. I have predominantly been using an Opinel Pocket Knife, a Mitsubishi KH-20 crank sharpener, and a regular short point sharpener - Each method presents a unique set of shavings. I finish most of the pencils with fine grit sandpaper to smooth out the cedar and graphite, I find this provides the best point and feel for each pencil. The pencils I have been sharpening: • Mitsubishi 9800 • Mitsubishi 9850 • Mitsubishi 9852 • Mitsubishi 772 (Dual Colour) • Blackwing 602 • Blackwing 574 • Blackwing Firm • Blackwing Balanced • Blackwing Soft I have recorded the audio for each pencil I have sharpened, I have also used a contact mic to record some pencils being sharpened, I have no idea how to use these recordings but they exist. I started sharpening pencils as a daily ritual for @tomsachs / @nikecraft ISRU Summer Camps Output before Input challenge, but will continue as I have many pencils left to sharpen. If you would like a pencil let me know. by @pagesz
Working on my pencil sharpening, everything I know about sharpening a #2 / HB pencil is from David Rees’ definitive guide on pencil sharpening, titled How To Sharpen Pencils. I am a merely a novice pencil sharpener, trying to hone my skills. I am sharpening a pencil each morning before doing anything else, while my mind is clear and I am able to truly focus on the task at hand distraction free, I am doing this as my task for @nikecraft and @tomsachs ISRU Output before Input challenge. So far I have only been sharpening new pencils, if you have a pencil new or old you would like sharpened, I am open to doing this for you, please get in touch. by @pagesz

It’s been one whole month since my best friend crossed the astral plane, since then I have grieved like I have for no other, Delphine was the kind of special that you can’t put into words. She was so pure, and I wish she was still here, Lindyl and I knew how lucky we were but we never realised how little time we would have with our angel. I want to say thank you to everyone for your kind words over the past month, they have meant a lot. by @pagesz
