My full line of items benefitting Rogers Park families affected by 🧊 presence is ready 😌

It’s been really beautiful to see Chicagoans show up for each other. I know I’m not the only person who feels so much pain watching these kidnappers raid the city. People should feel safe going to the grocery store without worrying they will be taken. Until that happens, we can feed our neighbors so hopefully they don’t need to add “feeding their family” to the list of worries.

So far, your donations have covered peanut butter, evaporated milk, vegetable oil, rice, beans, deodorant, salt, pads, chips, canned chicken, crackers, and more for these families. The wishlist is frequently updated, and the items are ranked by importance!

Thanks to @catdroool for printing the riso prints, @palomaprints for the advice about block printing on fabric, and Sticker Ninja for printing gorgeous stickers.

I painted a vending machine❣️ @midwest_access_coalition is sponsoring a free vending machine filled with life saving items, debuting at @dorothydownstairs in January. I had the chance to design and paint it, and it’s alllll done 🖌️ This project has me itching to do more large scale pieces, use more enamel paint, and practice more lettering 😁 by @paintedtravels

I disappeared for a bit and haven’t made anything in a long while 🤧 But I am back to share something new that I just finished 🦇💗 This is a collage I made with paper that I painted with some funky y2k patterns for my darling girlfriend’s birthday <3

Thanks for looking :,) Hope everyone’s been feeling good, creative, inspired, etc. 🙂‍↕️ by @paintedtravels

A summery animation I made using a video from the Kane County Flea Market 🍿🐜☀️🍧 by @paintedtravels

She’s a sign painterrrrr 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ I spent the last few months designing and painting this suite of signs for a wedding reception. I’m so grateful for the trust, and I would love to do more commissions like this!!

I learned so much in the process: scaling a tiny sketch to a full-size design, using a pounce wheel for the first time, making my own pounce powder using old vine charcoal and a sock, painting with @novacolorpaint, using Floetrol as a thinner, and more steps that I am likely forgetting at this point ;-) And of course using everything I learned from @this_is_the_real_mike_meyer this spring during his workshop.

Two are on heavy illustration board, and one is on a cradled masonite panel so it can easily be hung on a wall after the event! <3 by @paintedtravels

A painting inspired by some particularly special hydrangeas I saw at the farmer’s market last year :0) I made this as a submission for a mini-mural, but it didn’t end up getting accepted. I still love it 💌 by @paintedtravels

Spent my Wednesday afternoon at @theunderstudychi with @memoryhoard learning how to make a multimedia animation :0) Here’s what I made!! This is not something I ever thought I would do myself, but now it’s something I want to experiment with. That’s the beauty of a workshop!!

And if you saw the tiny bit of the Capcut portion I didn’t crop out, no you didn’t 🙂‍↔️ by @paintedtravels

I feel much more confident with my block letters, but casual has been tougher for me! I was more familiar with casual lettering, so I didn’t expect that to be the case. Working my casual muscles then 💪 I spent a little more time sketching them out ahead of time, and that helped a whole lot. by @paintedtravels

Setup pic from the art meetup I hosted last week :,) Very excited to keep these going in the future! I’m thinking once a month or so, hopefully with an activity each time. This one was chill, just some sketching and button pressing :-) I’m planning on bringing a still life setup to the next one using my vintage toys n trinkets. Stay tuned for the date!! by @paintedtravels

Many, many moments of my trip to Cincinnati felt so “me,” and this sweet diner I visited on the way was one of them. Every nook and cranny was filled with vintage kitchenware, cameras, and newspapers ❤️

Bonus old neon sign at a now-closed pastry shop. Hope it gets saved or someone rents the building!! by @paintedtravels
