New York Senator Kevin Parker's triumphant victory gala, held on November 15th at El Caribe Country Club resonated with the vibrant spirit of unity, drawing constituents, community members, and a multitude of elected officials to celebrate together. Attorney General Tish James, Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermelyn, Assemblymember Brian A. Cunningham, Debbie Louis, Assemblymember Jaime Williams, Assemblymember Monique Chandler-Waterman, Councilmember Mercedes Narcisse, Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams were some of the elected officials in attendance. Even those unable to join last-minute due to unforeseen conflicts sent heartfelt regards, underscoring the significance of the event. Many long time supporters were in attendance, there were so many to name. It was wonderful seeing Joan Bakiriddin, Hassan Bakiriddin, Mark Meyer Appel, Anne-Rhea Smith and the pleasure was all mine having Wayne Raguette, Ian Callendar, Zeneth Yessenia Buzzele, Amanda Brown, Aval Brown, Anthony Dolci, Ming Infante and Anne Tallegrand-Cajuste as guests at my table tonight. I thank the Senator's amazing and hard working staff and brilliant photographer, Solwazi Afi Olusola for the stunning images he captured at this event and at every event. The evening unfolded in a tapestry of love, support, camaraderie, and joy, weaving together moments of delicious food, uplifting dance, pulsating DJ music, soul-stirring live singing, and a cascade of blessings. The faith community added a powerful layer, offering prayers and abundant blessings. Attendees journeyed from far and wide, not merely for the festivities but to bask in the presence of Senator Parker—a true mentor, a source of continuous wisdom and a trailblazer whose leadership has left an indelible mark both within and beyond the realms of government. Gratitude filled the air tonight for the impact he has had on countless lives. by @palatialpublishingllc

In a momentous celebration of culture, community, and culinary delight, New York State Senator Roxanne Persaud and I, Kamla Millwood were honored to attend the grand opening of Oasis Restaurant and Lounge, nestled at 11807 Atlantic Avenue in the heart of Richmond Hill, New York. The vibrant occasion marked the culmination of a dream for Guyanese-born Suri Dukhi - who brought to life a magnificent space destined to become a hub for community engagement and enjoyment.

As the doors swung open to reveal the splendor within, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. The venue, an embodiment of Guyanese hospitality and charm, promised an experience that transcended the ordinary. New York State Senator Persaud, with her characteristic warmth and eloquence, graced the gathering with heartfelt greetings, setting the tone for an evening that would be etched in the memories of all attendees.

The space itself exuded an air of sophistication and comfort, a testament to the meticulous planning and dedication invested in bringing Oasis to fruition. Nestled on Atlantic Avenue, the restaurant and lounge quickly established itself as a haven for those seeking not just a meal but an immersive cultural experience. The venue's design, a thoughtful blend of aesthetics and functionality, invited patrons to feel not merely like visitors, but like cherished guests in a cherished home.

As the aroma of delectable Guyanese cuisine wafted through the air, it was evident that Oasis had mastered the art of culinary indulgence. The menu, a carefully curated selection of dishes, showcased the diversity and richness of Guyanese flavors. From savory curries to mouth-watering rotis, each item on the menu bore the hallmark of authenticity and passion. For Senator Persaud and I, Kamla Millwood, this gastronomic journey became an exploration of not just taste but a celebration of cultural heritage.

The dishes served were not merely meals; they were an invitation to savor the essence of Guyana. The tantalizing scents that filled the air had a magical quality, transporting patrons to a culinary paradise. Each bite was a revelation, a testament to the chef's commitment to an amazing experience. by @palatialpublishingllc

SILENCE SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION WHEN A CHILD IS SUFFERING

Every child deserves to learn in a safe, supportive environment. No young person should have to choose between getting an education and feeling safe.

Yet for far too many children, bullying turns classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and social media into places of fear and isolation.

During National Bullying Prevention Month, New York State Senator Kevin S. Parker reminds us that protecting our children requires more than kind words. It demands awareness, accountability, and action.

To every young person experiencing bullying: Your voice matters. Your feelings matter. YOU matter!

Tell a trusted adult. Report harmful behavior. Keep seeking help until you are heard.

To parents, teachers, and community leaders: Pay attention. Listen without judgment. Never dismiss a child’s cry for help.

Sometimes, standing up for one child can change the course of that child’s entire life.

Let’s raise children who choose compassion over cruelty, courage over silence, and kindness over intimidation.

Be the reason someone feels safe, included, and valued. STAND UP! SPEAK OUT!
