📚 Graduation project “A Journey Through the Heartlands” 📚
Design Academy Eindhoven DDW 2024

Lily and her dad’s move to a new city takes them through enchanting landscapes like the Sea of Unknown and the Forest of Doubt, where their feelings come alive. Navigating emotions with your child can be challenging, as children perceive the world differently than adults do. ‚A Journey Through the Heartlands‘ is a social-emotional learning picture book for both children and adults.

The story brings to life Lily and her dad’s unique perspectives through mixed media. Their individual journeys are highlighted through split pages—Lily traversing the bright, colourful Fields of Dreams, while her dad navigates the realistically drawn Hills of Resilience. This book fosters emotional intelligence in children and aids adults in navigating emotional complexities, emphasizing the importance of feeling and discussing emotions together.

🐟 Graduation project “The Fish In You” 🐟
Design Academy Eindhoven DDW 2024

“THE FISH IN YOU” embodies a dialogue-based video game crafted to challenge prevailing misconceptions and prejudices surrounding fish.
Fish, unlike other vertebrae, are the most alien and unfamiliar to us, which has cemented their role in human culture as a species primarily meant to be caught and consumed. By endowing fish with agency and affording players the unique opportunity to engage in meaningful discourse with an animal that appears mute to us, the goal is to change people’s perspective on fish and make them realize they are worth protecting.
At the heart of this transformative experience lies the cultivation of empathy – through inviting participants to take part in this immersive conversation and exploration within the game, the capacity to identify with fish grows, nurturing a deeper connection and appreciation.
