Een kijkje achter de schermen: de witte lijkwagen van Wilhelmina wordt naar Wit gebracht. 👀 Deze wagen wordt gebruikt bij haar begrafenis in 1962 en eerder bij die van prins Hendrik in 1934.
Het resultaat van verhuizing? Dat ontdek je straks zelf. Te zien vanaf 9 oktober: Wit, meer dan een kleur.
// A behind-the-scenes look: Queen Wilhelmina’s white funeral carriage is on its way to White. 👀 This carriage was used for her funeral in 1962 and, earlier, for that of Prince Hendrik in 1934.

Herfst in de paleistuinen: hoog in de lucht zie je niet wat er dicht bij de grond allemaal gebeurt. 🍁🍂
🍊 De kwetsbare citruscollectie gaat halverwege oktober naar binnen.
⛲ De fonteinen worden drooggelegd en de leidingen worden droog geblazen om vorstschade te voorkomen.
🗿 Tuinbeelden krijgen een beschermende 'jas'.

🍊 The vulnerable citrus collection is moved indoors in mid-October to protect it from the cold.
⛲ The fountains are drained for the winter, and the pipes are blown clear to prevent frost damage.
🗿 Garden statues are given a protective “winter coat”.

Deze beelden krijgen een tijdelijk nieuw thuis: tentoonstelling Wit, meer dan een kleur. 💭

Ze komen uit de kunstzaal. In 1875 laat koning Willem III deze zaal inrichten met eigentijdse beeldhouwkunst, geïnspireerd op klassieke voorbeelden. Deze ruimte behoort nu tot de kantoorruimtes van Paleis Het Loo.

// These sculptures are going to a temporary new home in the exhibition White, More Than a Colour. 💭

They come from the Art Gallery. In 1875, King Willem III had this gallery furnished with contemporary sculpture inspired by classical models. Nowadays, the Art Gallery is part of the office spaces of Paleis Het Loo.

👀 Wie steelt hier eigenlijk de show? Amalia van Solms en Charlotte de La Trémoïlle staan centraal op dit 17e-eeuwse schilderij van Gerard van Honthorst, maar veel bezoekers kijken meteen naar het hondje op de voorgrond. 🐶 Kijk eens goed naar de halsband. Je ziet er de letters HAV: Hendrik en Amalia van Oranje. Dit invloedrijke echtpaar vormt in de 17e eeuw het hof in Den Haag om tot een luxueus en cultureel centrum. Hendrik is de zoon van Willem van Oranje.

Er wordt hard gewerkt aan de nieuwe tijdelijke tentoonstelling Wit, meer dan een kleur. Er komt van alles bij kijken: paspoppen aankleden, knopen vastmaken, foto's maken, wanden schilderen en het plaatsen van grote en kleine objecten! Hier zie je een sneak-peek. 👀
