Some nice blocs and moments over the last few weeks to end the year. @allisonvest ✨✨✨

This year has had a lot of ups and downs from sending my first v15, @momentumclimbingteam podiuming at nationals in Boulder and Lead, dealing mentally and physically with multiple serious injuries and making the return through rehab back to my previous levels with lots of travel, family, and friends along the way. Thanks to everyone for making it a special one! by @palmerlarsen

@palmerlarsen is one of the top coaches in the country, as the head coach for the @momentumclimbingteam. This is the first podcast he’s ever done and it was INCREDIBLE!

This clip is part of a longer section on deliberate practice that cannot be missed (timestamp ~1:28).

From the newest podcast episode, #95 Palmer Larsen — The Master Coach, Adaptability and Autonomy, Deliberate Practice, Style Then Process, What’s Wrong In Coaching Today, and Olympic 2024 Predictions

Trying something near to your limit tugs on your ego, tests your will and determination, and teaches you much more about the mental side of this game than anything else.

I had more doubts about myself and my climbing over the past 6 months than ever before. Over 100 miles of walking gives you a lot of time to think and talk about every little detail about your beta, about your process, and about yourself. In the past I’ve been really good about putting in the work, staying positive, believing in myself, and surrounding myself with psyched friends but none of that worked as well this time. In the end I learned many lessons I thought I knew but a deeper experience is still the best teacher.

I let go of my expectations and feelings of deserving and wanting to send the climb and enjoyed the beauty of Red Rock, the intricacies of the moves, and those around me and that seemed to do the trick. On likely my last go of the last day of the season I was able to scramble to the top of The Nest! V15! ✅ My proudest accomplishment to date. Thanks to everyone that trekked out there with me and gave me support!

I was constantly inspired by those that have sieged before me @ethan_pringle @keenantakahashi and that helped me to believe that it was possible even after falling on the same move many many times. 💙

I’ve really been loving the 🍁 and good times in the canyon recently. Nothing like peak week to rejuvenate the stoke and fuel motivation for the rest of the season. Started off with some days of easier circuits and then working my way up to some harder projects, turned out to be a perfect reintroduction.

Noogie - a nice little link up on the bully boulder. Cool to return 10 years after doing bully 😳

Jack Horner Sit - @boonespeed vision for this awesome stem and then @adam.ondra did the sit a while back but I think I’m the 2nd. Suits me perfect!

Taylor made - toughie but some really sick moves and technical sequence.

Matt’s roof low - nice addition from @sean.climbs up in white pine.

Thanks to @saltlakeclimbers @kayaclimbing for the push to get out. Can’t wait for more! by @palmerlarsen

A few more incredible boulders with some unique moves from the past couple weeks with @allisonvest ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rocklands is a pretty magical place to experience. I’m like a kid in a candy shop with @allisonvest picking out ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ lines to try every day. It’s been really cool to return after my first trip 5 years ago and see such progress in my climbing. Excited to really test myself on some true projies next!

Excited to be starting off 2023 as a part of the @asanaclimbing team! This climb, Diamondback in clear creek canyon, CO has quite the uneven landing and is tall @asanaclimbing pads always provide the perfect spread for a safe landing as does @charlesbarron on the spot. Stoked to see what this year brings! by @palmerlarsen
