PREHASA WEDDING

Costume design is as cumbersome as it is tricky.

* As a creative, you can’t just chase what looks good or tick your personal boxes
* It is about total surrender to the script, the character’s soul, and the vision of the producers, director, and entire team.
* The creatives job is to bring that character to life so authentically that the audience feels them, not just sees them.

I’m immensely grateful to have worked on this season’s wedding of @skeemsaam13 and luckily, I got to adorn one of my favourite people @ericmacheru a genuinely kind person, warm, and so relatable 🫂

Side note! The last slide is the very first wedding I designed for this groom, the Leeto character. From then till now, you’ve remained one of one.

• Working on @skeemsaam13 was an exquisite delight.
•• I took immense pleasure in crafting striking silhouettes for some of the series’ most compelling characters.
••• There is no greater fulfilment than forging a sincere connection with the artists before you, delving into their spirit and distilling it into cloth, cut, and fit.
••••Each garment we constructed was sculpted with quiet reverence, a delicate equilibrium between visual poetry on camera and fidelity to the shared vision of the Head of Wardrobe, the stylists, producers, and director.

Of @clementmaosa I can say this with certainty: he possesses a magnetic aura that commands the frame the instant he steps into the room.

Clement wears a look with such effortless quintessence that his presence seems almost whispered, yet it lingers, deeply and beautifully felt.

Our heartfelt thanks to the production company, @sabc1_mzansifosho and the entire Skeem Saam visionary team for weaving this enchantment into being.

I remain profoundly grateful. ❤️

One thing I love about working on event outfits is a strong design concept or theme, especially when a customer also gives me creative freedom.

So Bellas aka Mashmallow’s MD, Happy (super mom) and Khwenzo (MD partner). I was afforded full creative freedom with the custom-made suit and its design.

Looking at all the frames, voilà! This is what we’ve achieved: a modern interpretation where tradition meets modern classic. I need to emphasise that many hours went into hand-beading the cowry shells onto the lapel, with a deliberately minimal approach on the neck and sleeves.

Happy Mashmallow and Khwenzo, thank you for trusting me to deliver such an immaculate-looking suit. You teens looked mad-breathtaking just likea true constellation of stars that sparkled throughout the night. by @palse.sandton

@phumzilezibani turns 40 🎈

From the first sketch to the final fitting, countless hours and late nights were poured into crafting these bespoke looks for a truly unforgettable celebration.

Commissioned by the radiant Phumzile as she gracefully turned 40, @palse.sandton had the distinct honour of designing for her and the equally stylish Simphiwe. Phumzile’s corseted gown was a labour of love: meticulously constructed with delicate lace, shimmering sequins, and thousands of hand-placed beads, each one sewn with precision and care by our dedicated team over many days.

For Simphiwe, we created a striking honeycomb avocado green tuxedo blazer featuring sleek black satin cuffs and lapels, paired with a crisp white Egyptian cotton shirt, super-fine wool suiting trousers, and a minimalist black bow tie that completed his refined silhouette.

It was an absolute privilege to design for and style Phumzile alongside her adorable family. We extend our deepest gratitude for trusting us with such a meaningful milestone.

Congratulations, my darling Phumzile, on your beautiful 40th. May your life continue to be as elegant, vibrant, and joyous as the lush party that marked this special chapter.
