We needed a deep sleep today to get back to life after all these events! We are extremely happy about the energy, passion, exchange, and togetherness we experience during the Turning Floors Festival! Seeing so many of you dancing and connecting makes the Festival a platform and home for the true experience! Yes, we did it! We connected bodies and bridged communities!

I send a great thanks to the best Festival partner @coach_stina - it’s her who in the late hours was creating all designs, DIYing the banner, and knocking on the doors of diverse communities to talk about the Festival 🫶

Max, @paluch_michal @ninocobre who did everything I asked for with no hesitation and still saying that it’s nothing!

Our amazing partners who helped so much and made us feel at home @skanesdansteater @danscentrumsyd and the support of @regionskane

All teachers, whose passion and desire to share the knowledge, energy, and experience was more than I expected!

All participants who made this Festival real!!

Improbable Lifts: Improvised Partnering

𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢
Improbable Lifts är en workshop i improviserad partnering som utforskar icke-verbala förhandlingar med lekfullhet. Vi dyker ner i experimentell partnering och utvecklar de färdigheter som krävs tillsammans, för att sedan utforska verktyg för improvisation.

Detta leder till performativa situationer som arbetar med misslyckandets estetik. Praktikens fysiska stil präglas av kamp och spontanitet. Vi strävar inte efter att samarbeta i traditionell mening, men det uppstår ögonblick där kroppar blir till en enda absurd, lekfull enhet där vi omdefinierar vad det är att ‘lyckas’. Praktiken utvecklades i ett samarbete mellan Katarzyna Paluch och Aaron Lang (DE).

𝗕𝗜𝗢
Katarzyna Paluch är performer, dansare, kreatör och pedagog. År 2024 tog hon en magisterexamen i samtida scenkonst vid Göteborgs universitet, där hon fokuserade sin forskning på rörelseimprovisation. Katarzyna arbetar som frilansande konstnär och leder workshops i partnering, kontaktimprovisation, floorwork och rörelseimprovisation. Hon är medlem i Collective Nest och arrangerade fem upplagor av den internationella dansfestivalen DO Festival i Polen.

Festivalbiljetter: 200kr drop-in pris en workshop, 500kr för tre workshops, 800kr för hela festivalen. Se mer info om biljetter i vår profil (länk i bio).

TIME TO DANCE 🫶

Turning Floors into Freedom - en ny dansfestival i Malmö 5-7 juni!

Genom workshops, föreställningar, samtal och DJ open dance sessions får olika generationer, kulturer och stilar mötas på dansgolvet. Festivalen vill minska avståndet mellan professionella dansare, entusiaster och olika grupper i samhället – connecting bodies, bridging communities.

Här delar lokala dansare med sig av sin kunskap och bjuder in till samtal om stadens dans community. Våra kroppar bär på kollektiv kunskap och dansen blir en plats för hälsa och välmående genom lekfullhet, rörlighet och kontakt.

Programmet rymmer allt från samtida dans och street till traditionell folkdans, klubbkultur och somatiska praktiker.

Welcome to two days of workshops within acrobatics and contemporary dance. This event is aimed towards professional field: dancers who want to practice circus and towards circus artists who want to practice dance.

We wish to delve into the practices of floor based acrobatics and floorwork and to receive knowledge from both contemporary dance and contemporary circus. To mix the two artforms, bringing them, and their practitioners closer.

Open to dancers and circus artists of all different genres / disciplines with a strong interest in acrobatic practices.

This is a collaboration between @cirkussyd and @danscentrumsyd

Cost: 250 SEK for three workshops

Free of charge for members of Danscentrum Syd and members of Cirkus Syd. (With a no-show fee of 400 SEK)

Cirkus Syd can offer a few short distance travel grants to early birds, for example from Copenhagen, Malmö or other cities in Skåne. Apply by emailing info@cirkussyd.com

Welcome to the Mondays CI Technique classes with rotating teachers in Malmö!
I am excited to be the first teacher on the schedule during four weeks in a row and then another teacher will take over 🙂

In these classes, we will dive into a technical approach to the two or more bodies meeting in a movement by exploring oppositional forces, decision-making processes, jump and catch practice, to then break down the dynamics into improvisational scores and try to awaken the spatial awareness, spontaneity, readiness, and control in playful improvisational scores. My question throughout the class is how to cultivate availability and embody awareness in every moment of the dance.
