I feel lucky, so so lucky, to be invited into spaces where I can contribute to the making of art. To feel into and freely share more of my essence in the pursuit of honoring a common vision. This piece of work for Ovna Ovich allowed me to work alongside exquisite women whose inspiration, talent and love have left a lasting imprint. That experience alone has made it my one of my favourite projects to date.

Keeping it consistent: here’s a post 12 months overdue.   Looking back on the awesomeness that was performing in Albert Blez’s ‘Hyperspace’, a collaboration between @aucklandtheatreco and @tepoutheatre , which debuted early last year.  As someone firmly in her ‘post-dance-career’ era, I sauntered into rehearsals thinking, “A few sidesteps and hip thrusts? Easy as.” Cue the force that is @tiakikerei who had us high-kicking, spinning, and leaping our way back into the 90s and the fiercely competitive world of aerobics. Enter Hanz and Heidi, international contenders at the Timotei Miami Wine Cooler Aerobic Championships of 1990 🤸‍♀️. Hanz and Heidi did NOT take this competition lightly, and neither did we. Embodying these deliciously outrageous characters alongside my pal @edwardjclendon was delightful.  A huge mihi to our director Tainui Tukiwaho and choreographer Tiaki Kerei for holding a creative process that challenged us as artists and a kaupapa that nurtured us as people. The level of care, trust, and growth in this process was unmatched.

This production didn’t just put my body through its paces; it filled my heart with so much joy. Even now, driving out to Henderson on the Western motorway, I catch myself smiling. My body remembers that route - six weeks of rehearsal at Te Pou Theatre. It remembers the significance of those mornings checking in with each other; the magic of moving and creating with each other; and the awe of watching each other soar in their craft.

Hyperspace wasn’t just a show; it was a vibe, a whānau.  Cup still full. by @pamelasidhu

All smiles on our last full day of free diving in Savusavu. There is an undeniable and beautiful alchemy that comes with being in the water everyday. I feel so fortunate to have had this experience.
