🎃 PUMPKIN HISTORY: THE BIG MAC! 🎃

Ever seen a pumpkin this BIG? 👀

Meet the Big Mac pumpkin — a giant variety bred to turn heads with its massive size and deep orange color!

🌱 A little history: The story of giant pumpkins goes back to the late 1800s, when growers began selectively breeding pumpkins to grow bigger and bigger. In 1893, William Warnock of Ontario, Canada, showcased a 365-pound pumpkin at the Chicago World’s Fair. By 1964, the Big Mac variety was being introduced commercially, bringing these impressive giants to even more growers.

• Big Macs can grow to weigh well over 100 pounds!
• Despite their size, they’re part of the squash family, botanically speaking.

🎃 A LITTLE PUMPKIN HISTORY LESSON!

Did you know the jack-o’-lantern tradition actually started with turnips, not pumpkins?

The tradition originated in Ireland, where people carved scary faces into turnips and other root vegetables. When Irish immigrants came to America, they discovered that pumpkins were bigger, easier to carve, and native to North America — making them the perfect replacement!

And just like that, the orange carving pumpkin became a Halloween icon. 🍂👻

From an old Irish tradition to an American fall favorite, pumpkins have a pretty cool story!
