Frankie Klepadlo of Panam Motorcycles (@panammotorcycles ) is one of the most respected custom builders in the world, known for his exceptional craftsmanship and unmistakable artistic vision. His work seamlessly blends one-off custom fabrication with the original character of each machine, creating builds that are both timeless and deeply personal. As one of this year’s Invited Builders at the Born-Free Motorcycle Show, Frankie showcased his beautifully crafted 1957 Harley-Davidson FL Panhead—a perfect reflection of his philosophy and attention to detail. In this film, we follow Frankie behind the wheel of his stunning 1930 Ford Model A Hot Rod. Finished in a custom-mixed PPG Ox Blood paint, the Model A combines classic hot rod styling with a Small Block Chevy V8, Tri-Power Stromberg carburetors, handcrafted details, and a beautifully finished leather interior. Every element has been thoughtfully executed, resulting in a car that feels authentic, balanced, and unmistakably his own. Alongside the Hot Rod is Frankie’s equally iconic 1957 FL Panhead, built around its original frame, engine, and transmission, and finished with carefully selected period-correct components, one-off handcrafted parts, and custom paint by Steve Budy. More than a showcase of two incredible machines, this film is a glimpse into the craftsmanship and vision behind them. Still pretty hard to believe I get to say this…

This December both my ’57 Panhead and my 1930 Ford Model A will be making the trip to Japan for the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show!

Frankie Klepadlo of Panam Motorcycles (@panammotorcycles ) custom-built this 1957 Harley-Davidson FL Panhead for the Born-Free Motorcycle Show (@bornfreeshow ). Just before the bike was displayed at the event, I had the opportunity to interview him about the build. During our conversation, we discussed what makes his motorcycles so visually striking, how his artistic sense has been shaped over the years, and the background behind his design philosophy. The bike retains its original 1957 frame, engine, and transmission, preserving its authentic foundation while being restored to an extraordinary level. It is so clean and immaculate that it's hard to believe this motorcycle is nearly 70 years old—it looks as if it just rolled out of the showroom. The custom paint, created by Steve Budy, perfectly complements the turquoise stone on the jockey shift. The finish has incredible depth, resembling polished marble or even a precious gemstone, making it one of the bike's most captivating details. Even more exciting, this remarkable Panhead is also scheduled to be displayed at the YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW (@mooneyesjp ) in Japan, one of the world's premier custom motorcycle exhibitions.
