This neighborhood bar has long been on my radar and I finally got to check it out! @holyghostbar is located in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood and has two amazing restaurants as neighbors.

You can use the QR code in the bar to order fast casual Korean food from @bbangpdx or some of the best pizza I’ve had in Portland at @panconquesopdx . They drop the food off right at my table while I was sipping on my mezcal old fashioned. Literally the dream lineup right there!

Mexican Pizza 🍕

Okay so “Mexican Pizza” is honestly a bit reductive, but I thought it would make for a grabby caption..

@panconquesopdx creates what they call “naturally leavened modernist pizza with old world values”, specializing in Latin-inspired flavors and emphasizing their house-made ingredients like their hand-pulled mozzarella and heavily-spiced house chorizo that Chef Henry Martinez describes as more of a Spanish-style Chorizo. I’ve asked him multiple times to start selling the chorizo by the pound and he keeps saying that he’ll have to get back to me on that..

Pan Con Queso

Lower Gladstone is quietly turning into one of my favorite food stretches in Portland. Between @holyghostbar , @bbangpdx , and @panconquesopdx , this little hub is becoming a dangerous place for my wallet.
I came in looking for a pizza that wasn't trying to copy everyone else, and that's exactly what I found. Pan Con Queso puts its own spin on pizza, pulling inspiration from Mexican and Pacific Island flavors without making it feel gimmicky. You can tell there's a lot of thought behind what they're doing.
Ordered the Micho Rizzo. House-made chorizo, red sauce, a parmesan cotija blend, garlic, red onion, basil, sourdough breadcrumbs, olive oil, and a little red pepper flake. Damn... this thing was good. The house-made chorizo stole the show, and every topping actually had a purpose. Nothing felt thrown on just to be different.
The crust had that perfect chew, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the whole pie just worked. It's the kind of pizza where you keep grabbing "one more slice" until suddenly there isn't any left. We got home and I had to get a few pictures in, so I went outside and finished two slices on the 10ft walk back to the door. Haha
Big shout out to Daniel at the counter too. Super welcoming, quick service, and happy to answer questions without making us feel like we're new to town.
Portland has no shortage of great pizza, which makes it hard to stand out. Pan Con Queso somehow does. No gimmicks, no crazy price tag, just really damn good pizza made by people who clearly care about what they're putting in that oven.
Get a side of caesar for dipping. 10/10. Thank me later.
This one's absolutely worth adding to your pizza rotation.
