I can’t believe we did it!

***I’d love to know what you think of this?***

With 3 kids at home and running a business- working on my own house takes FOREVER! But after a few weeks we finally finished our living room makeover!

I cannot take sole credit for this! Mrs Perfect has an incredible eye for interiors and worked her socks off. You see me on the camera but Mrs Perfect has done all the manual labour with me - plus she pulled together the room at the end! I mean how talented is she!!??

WHY? the previous sofas looked nice but didn’t keep their shape and were far too relaxed for us. With 3 children (and a husband 🤣) the carpet needed to be replaced. So we went all in! But what did we do?

Flooring - the oak engineered herringbone from @neptunebelfast @neptunehomeofficial I learned so much laying this and love love love the finish!

Skirtings - the simple chamfered edge had to go and the new extra detailed ones look class!

Walls & ceilings - I blocked up the double doors to make it cosy and then painted the entire room with @littlegreenepaintcompany intelligent Matt 2% sheen, durable and a built in primer so it went on everything! by @panellingperfect

This seems to be a popular request from my clients but what do you think of it?

I added T&G wall panelling to this space to give contrast to the units while adding a little more protection to the walls too.

That short space under the wall units does benefit from the illusion of height that these vertical lines add

So you could either spend a few £k installing a quartz splash back or tiles with grout that attracts dirt but on a budget - which are you choosing?

If you are a keen DIYer make sure you SAVE this How To video to install this wall panelling yourself! by @panellingperfect

I actually thought this was going to be a gimmick and not work. 1 - because my garden is quite long and 2 because it’s such an awkward shape.

It would normally take me almost 2 hours to get this looking neat. But then I ran into another problem - the grass bin is so small I couldn’t fit all the clippings in.

There are no more grass clippings as the mower mulches the grass and then I save so much time because this is set to have perfect stripes in my lawn by the time I get home.

So when I hear a mower now - I have that smug smile on my face knowing that they’re never going to keep up with my ANTHBOT

Does this sound like you? Or do you just hate cutting the grass???

Well here is a Discount Code ā€œANTHKOL50ā€ which Saves you €50 on orders over €600

Check the link in my bio for this exact machine!

I’ve been trying to work out when this all got a bit ridiculous…

From picking up a paintbrush to somehow ending up with hundreds of thousands of people watching me use one.

I’ve made mistakes, learned loads, changed direction, annoyed a few people along the way… and somehow you lot are still here.

So I’d love to know how long you’ve been following - if I’ve helped you in any way - or what brings you back to keep watching…? by @panellingperfect

I got hate…

…from a few decorators for sharing something like this before but then I thought, maybe someone out there could do with learning this too so I decided to do it anyway!

Here is a step by step DIY guide on how to fill a crack in a wall or ceiling. You can use this method for both plaster board cracks and solid walls.

Here are the product used:

1. Dig out - the @hamilton_decorating_tools precision scraper creates the perfect v groove.

2. Dust - remove the loose bits. I used the @flex_tools_uk VCE 33 M class extractor

3. Seal - @zinsseruk peel stop is amazing stuff!

4. Filler - the @toupretuk walls and ceilings filler is amazing stuff and doesn’t flash through.

5. Mixing - with the @axusdecor flexi bowl. Let the filler dry and squash it to make it clean!

6. Applying filler - @woosterbrushuk flexi filling knives filled with eases

7. Scrim tape - this bonds the joints and this super thin stuff from @theglassfabriccompany is genuinely awesome

8. Re fill

9. Sand - I used the @flex_tools_uk battery powered 125 random orbit sander with 120grit

10. Paint - @johnstones_trade Perfect Matt is just durable the opacity is great and only 2% sheen too! Applied with the @prodecdecorating ice fusion 9ā€ sleeve

11: admire - here I used my hand which unfortunately you can’t buy online šŸ˜‚ but you can book a consultation with me and I can walk you through interior decor and panelling guides. by @panellingperfect

Have you?

I like trying new things out and sharing what I think of them. I was really unsure about this panelling moulding when it arrived as it was so flexible how was it going to perform on the wall?

Curves often test the best Pro’s and it’s also when DIY’ers get stuck and then call out to me for help.

What I learned is - having 2 pairs of hands will make this much more straightforward and a laser is essential if you want to keep it straight/level.

However - with a good instant grab adhesive and some tape you can transform your home in next to no time!

If you are planning a diy project, adding wall panelling or a PRO looking for an alternative to kerf cutting and steam bending check out @mardomdecor_ukireland

I’d love to hear what you think of this?

Even though this was a gifted item for me to try, I’ll be certainly buying more of it! by @panellingperfect

Still painting wall panelling with a brush and roller?Ā

Yes, paint spraying takes longer to prep. There’s more masking and more protecting before you even start.Ā

But once that’s done, spraying detailed wall panelling is so much quicker. No cutting in around every piece of moulding, no roller texture, and you get that smooth, consistent sprayed finish.Ā

For this room I used the SprayPack 18V from @wagner.professionals It’s cordless, easy to move around and made spraying all this detailed panelling incredibly straightforward.Ā

More prep, less time painting and a finish that’s hard to beat.Ā

Be honest… would you get one of these, or are you sticking with the brush & roller?Ā

Want one? Go to painsprayer.co.uk (http://painsprayer.co.uk/) and use code Perfect15 at checkout for discount off the entire site!Ā

This annoys me EVERY single day!

Do you have this issue? Would you do this to your kitchen?

Our section of kitchen has always looked unfinished and it was a pain to clean. So I’m fixing it myself.

I added the detail, protected the wall all without spending a fortune.

It’s a relatively simple DIY kitchen upgrade, but these are the details that completely change how a kitchen looks.

I’d love to know what you think of this…. by @panellingperfect

Painting your walls isn’t adding value to your home.

I think wall panelling can…

Done properly, wall panelling can completely transform a room, add character and make a basic space feel far more expensive.

It’s one of the simplest home improvement ideas for anyone renovating, decorating or looking for interior design inspiration.

But badly designed DIY panelling…..That’ll make your home look cheaper!

Bad finish: bad tools or bad technique?

Getting a smooth finish on wall panelling isn’t just about the paint. Brush marks, roller texture and orange peel can ruin otherwise perfect prep.

For this one I’m using the Perfection Sash Brush and Prestige 4ā€ Short Pile Roller from @hamilton_decorating_tools to get that smooth finish.

And one extra tip — stop using white primer under dark colours. I’ll often tint mine towards the final shade. It improves coverage and stops those annoying white areas showing through when you sand.

So what helps get a better finish — the tools or the person using them?

I think - New builds are easier but Period properties are better… agree?

I renovated this period hallway, stairs and landing with a contemporary twist — keeping the character, but losing the dated feel.

Possibly one of my biggest challenges to date.

Period property renovation, wall panelling, staircase makeover and modern interior design all rolled into one.

New build or period property — which do you prefer? by @panellingperfect
