When the luxury is walking distance.
I stayed at The Lexington in Midtown NYC, a short walk to The Summit One Vanderbilt, the MoMA and 5th Ave.
The location made this stay, and the view from the 26th floor did not disappoint. For 48k per night, it was worth it.

Dressed for a meeting the moment I land with this satin dress, blue blazer, matching belt and comfy but structured ballerina flats - effortless enough to still be my go-to for exploring a new city over the weekend after swapping the blazer for a jean jacket or sweater, and ballerina flats for sneakers.

Parked my rental car in Senlis, France - no signs in sight, so I figured it was fine. It was going to be a few minutes, I thought, what could go wrong?! Only to come back home and get a ticket later in the mail.
Looking back - not a single other car parked on that entire street should have been my first clue.
Lesson learned: if nobody else is parked close by, there’s probably a reason, and next time just ask the store attendant for guidance.

Took the hop-on-hop-off bus - walking distance from the hotel - for a full city overview.
Hopped off at Nymphenburg Palace for the morning, then caught a train to the beautiful town of Nuremberg in the late afternoon.

You could easily spend a full day at either of these 2 places if your itinerary allows more time.

ICE train to Nuremberg - just over an hour, direct.
Tip: shops close early - be there earlier if you want to shop.

Started my day with a train and 10’ bus ride to Dachau Memorial Site - reserve at least 4-5 hours for the visit (more details below*).

Came back to a buzzing Marienplatz - people gathered at cafes, strolling around town, and found the perfect spot for my favorite dessert.

Save this for your Munich itinerary.

*Subway/train info: a short walk to the train station, then S2 train (~ 25’) to Dachau, then bus 726 to KZ-Gedenkstatte (~10’). A Munich Zone M-1 day ticket covers the whole route.

Love when everything goes well on a travel day - from dropping off the rental car in Hamburg to stopping by the best sunglasses shop at the airport, to landing in Munich and heading to a convenient hotel✨. Have to say, Hamburg airport was one of the easiest and most efficient I’ve been through - fastest lines and even checking bags by myself.
