POV: Small Space, Major Style Moment ✨

Burl wood veneer, moody blue walls and warm lighting. 🤎

Transformed my Edinburgh Press bedroom shelving nook into a little design moment where texture, craftsmanship and Mid-Century style take centre stage.

Styling a Sideboard 101

Vary Heights: Mix tall and short pieces to create visual balance.

Use Odd Numbers: Group items in 3s or 5s for a naturally curated feel.

Layer for Depth: Place taller objects at the back and smaller accents in front.

Add Light: Lamps or candlesticks bring warmth, atmosphere and height.

Mix Textures: Combine ceramics, glass, metal and natural materials.

Add Greenery: Plants or flowers introduce softness and life.

Anchor the Space: Finish with artwork or a mirror to draw the eye upwards.

Save this post for your next sideboard refresh.

✨ LIGHTING THE WAY INTO WINTER
As the days get shorter and the evenings draw in, I’m embracing one of my favourite interior design tricks: layering light.
This staircase becomes a little gallery of table lamps, each one bringing its own glow, shape and personality to the space. Rather than simply illuminating a room, lighting can become a statement piece in its own right.
The warm pools of light against the plywood add depth, energy and atmosphere, transforming the staircase as evening falls.
Because winter interiors don’t have to feel dark… they can glow.

A warmer centre for the colder months 🤎

Sometimes, changing just one element can completely shift the mood of a room.

I’ve swapped my usual ceramic or marble centrepiece bowl for this large, dark brown mango wood plate, with its beautifully sculptural circular indentation.

The rich, natural wood instantly brings warmth, texture and an earthy contrast to the crisp white dining table, while complementing the terracotta seating, aged stone wall and black accents around the room.

As we move into the colder winter months, I’m leaning into warmer, deeper natural tones and tactile materials. It’s a simple change, but it makes the dining space feel noticeably more grounded and inviting.

Sometimes you don’t need to redesign a room. You just need to change what’s sitting in the middle of it.

Art has a way of slowing the world down and inviting us to see things differently. 🎨

A visit to the Museum of Modern Art reminded me that great design begins with curiosity. Surrounding yourself with art challenges your perspective, sparks creativity, and inspires you to look at your own spaces with fresh eyes.

Never underestimate the power of connecting with art. Sometimes the best ideas begin in a gallery. ✨

Over the past few years, this apartment has become so much more than a place to live. It has been my creative playground, where every corner has evolved through thoughtful design, careful styling, and plenty of trial and error.

From colour-drenched walls and statement lighting to layered textures, vintage finds, custom styling, and carefully chosen furniture, every project has been about creating a home that feels calm, welcoming, and full of personality.

I've always believed that great interiors aren't about chasing trends. They're about designing spaces that tell your story, make you feel at ease, and improve the way you live every day.

Thank you to everyone who has followed the journey, shared kind words, and found inspiration in these transformations. There are many more ideas to bring to life, and I can't wait to share what's next.

Here's to celebrating every project, every detail, and the joy of creating a home you truly love. 🤍

✨ Layering is the secret ingredient that turns a simple chair or sofa into an irresistible place to unwind.

In these spaces, I focused on creating depth, texture, and comfort by combining soft throws, statement cushions, and tactile fabrics. A sheepskin draped over a lounge chair instantly softens sleek lines, while a bold cushion adds personality and a focal point. On a sofa, layering different textures, from plush throws to fluffy rugs and accent pillows, creates a rich, curated look that feels both stylish and inviting.

My simple formula:
✔ Start with a clean-lined chair or sofa
✔ Add a textured throw for warmth and movement
✔ Introduce a cushion with colour, pattern, or a playful design
✔ Mix materials like wool, faux fur, linen, leather, and boucle
✔ Keep the palette cohesive but vary the textures

The result? A space that looks effortlessly designed, feels wonderfully cozy, and invites you to sit down and stay awhile. 🤍

Whether it's a reading nook by the window, a statement lounge chair, or your favourite couch, thoughtful layering adds that designer touch without overwhelming the space.

Finding the Sweet Spot Between Minimalism & Maximalism ✨

For years, interior design felt like a choice between two extremes: the clean restraint of minimalism or the expressive abundance of maximalism. My home is proof that you don't have to choose.

I embrace Midimalism, the perfect middle ground where calm meets character. Think neutral, moody foundations, uncluttered spaces, and intentional design choices, balanced with bold statement pieces that demand attention. 💛🖤

In my space, the dark walls create a quiet backdrop, allowing standout elements like the sculptural yellow sofa, oversized mirror, statement lighting, textured rugs, and curated artwork to shine. Every piece has a purpose, but every piece also tells a story.

The goal isn't to own less or display more. It's to create a home that feels both edited and expressive. A space where your personality is showcased without overwhelming the room.

Midimalism isn't about finding balance. It's about creating contrast that feels intentional.

How I Style a Dining Table for a Curated, Modern-Organic Look ✨

A dining table shouldn't feel over-styled. My approach is all about balancing sculptural pieces, natural textures, and breathing room so the space feels collected rather than crowded.

Here are a few styling principles I always follow:

• Start with a statement light. A beautiful pendant anchors the table and creates atmosphere day and night. Think of it as the jewellery of the room.

• Keep the centrepiece simple. Instead of filling the table with multiple objects, I prefer one sculptural bowl or vessel that adds shape without overwhelming the space.

• Mix soft and hard textures. The combination of stone walls, a sleek table, wire chairs, plush rugs, and curved upholstery creates visual depth and warmth.

• Let materials do the talking. Wood, stone, metal, glass, and fabric all bring character. When the materials are strong, you need fewer accessories.

• Embrace negative space. Not every inch needs styling. A clear tabletop feels more luxurious and allows the architecture and furniture to shine.

• Repeat colours subtly. Warm cognac tones, black accents, and earthy neutrals appear throughout the room, creating cohesion without looking too matched.

• Style for daylight and evening. Natural light highlights texture during the day, while warm pendant lighting transforms the space into something intimate after sunset.

For me, the goal is simple: create a dining space that feels calm, lived-in, and effortlessly elevated. 🤍

✨ The Pendant Lighting Rule Most People Get Wrong ✨

A little dining room upgrade that has completely changed the mood of the space. ✨

I’ve just installed this beautiful Belid pendant in the Denim finish with brass detailing above our dining table, and it feels like it was made for this corner. The deep matte blue tone picks up the darker elements of the exposed stone wall and furniture, while the brass accents add just enough warmth to complement the evening glow.

What I love most is how the layered shade creates a soft, focused pool of light across the table without any harsh glare. It brings that cosy restaurant feel at home, making the dining area feel more intimate and intentional.
One of the most common questions I get is: How high should a dining pendant be hung?

💡 The golden rule: measure from the floor, not from the ceiling.
People often measure the cable drop from the ceiling rose, get a number that looks right on paper, then sit down and realise the light is either shining directly into their eyes or floating so high it barely lights the table.

For most UK dining spaces:

✔️ 150–170cm from the floor to the bottom of the shade
This typically places the pendant around 60–75cm above the tabletop (assuming a standard 75cm-high dining table).
At this height:
• The table is properly illuminated.
• Sightlines across the table stay clear.
• You create that intimate pool of light that makes dining under a pendant feel special.

Hang it lower and it starts blocking the view of the person opposite. Hang it higher and the light becomes more ambient than functional.

For a standard UK ceiling height of around 240cm, this usually means the pendant will drop approximately 70–90cm from the ceiling.

If you have higher ceilings, such as a Victorian terrace or a conversion with 280–300cm ceilings, you'll likely need a longer cable or suspension kit, but the key measurement remains exactly the same:
📏 150–170cm from the floor to the bottom of the shade.
Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference. ✨
