On Monday, June 17 we honored our Diamond Hero, Ron “Papa Jack” Jackson (@ronpapajack) at the Inaugural #DiamondHeroSneakerBrunch. Papa Jack has worked tirelessly along community partners to forward the game of baseball and softball. During his time with Major League Baseball he impacted and coached many greats—but most importantly he continues to impact our youth through his love or the game.

Thank you, Papa Jack for staying committed to your community and all the lives you have touched across the nation. Congratulations on 50 years of baseball!

We were able to cast this video on the Jumbotron at Region Field, an emotional commencement to a celebration for the past, present, and future of urban baseball! Thank Dee Jackson for your contribution and love put in to this tribute. by @papajackbaseball

I am very thankful for the opportunity given to me by @mlbdevelops , @usabaseball ,and @phila_stars_baseball allowing me to learn from Hall Of Fame Coaches and Ex-MLB players to become a better student of the game and learn things that will help me hone my current skills to the best possible while helping me improve where my game is weaker at but also giving me the chance to complete with some of the best players in the country. See You Next Year. #mlbdevelops #usabseball #blessed #minoritybaseballprospects taken in Jackie Robinson Training Complex by @papajackbaseball

We’re incredibly proud of our very own Kedrick Thomas (@kedrickthomas12) on his selection to the Hank Aaron Invitational in Vero Beach, Florida, and for earning a spot on the team for the prestigious 44 Classic held at Rickwood Field.

Kedrick, a Class of 2027 outfielder at Clay-Chalkville High School, continues to represent our program with excellence both on and off the field.

This incredible honor celebrates and showcases some of the nation’s top minority baseball prospects, selected by MLB Develops (@mlbdevelops).

Join us in congratulating Kedrick on this well-deserved achievement! We can’t wait to watch his continued growth and success on the diamond.

First, I want to give all the glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for giving me the opportunity to come out to the Jackie Robinson Training Complex and play the game He has blessed me to play at the Hank Aaron Invitational.

Secondly, I want to thank my mom and my family for every sacrifice they’ve made to help me get to where I am today. None of this would be possible without their love and support.

I also want to thank MLB Develops @mlbdevelops for inviting me to such an incredible event. It was an honor to compete alongside so many talented players, learn from amazing coaches, and create memories I’ll never forget here at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me next. As Jeremiah 29:11 says:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

“Success isn’t measured by where you’ve been—it’s measured by the character you build, the people you inspire, and the faith you carry into wherever God leads you next. Until next time.”

Leaving this field with a grateful heart, a renewed purpose, and a commitment to carry forward the Jackie Robinson way. #thankyouJesus #TheJackieRobinsonWay @mlbnetwork @mlb @usabaseball taken in Jackie Robinson Training Complex by @papajackbaseball

We are incredibly proud of our Birmingham Young Barons (@bham_youngbarons) Junior and Senior League MLB Nike RBI (@mlbrbi) Tournament teams for their outstanding performance at the Southeast Regionals!

While we came up just short of reaching the finals, our Junior team finished with an impressive 3-1 record, and our Senior team finished 1-1-2. Both teams represented Birmingham with excellence, determination, and class.

This marks the second consecutive year that the Birmingham Young Barons have qualified for the Southeast Regional Tournament, and these 28 young men, along with our dedicated coaching staff, gave everyone a performance to remember.

Beyond the competition, our players had the incredible opportunity to play on the historic grounds of the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida—a memorable experience that celebrates the legacy of one of baseball’s greatest pioneers.

Thank you to our parents, sponsors, and supporters for believing in our mission and helping make this journey possible. A special thank you to @nslmbhm for your continued partnership and commitment to advancing urban baseball and creating greater access and opportunities for our youth.

The future is bright for the Birmingham Young Barons! ⚾️ taken in Jackie Robinson Training Complex by @papajackbaseball

“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” – Jackie Robinson

In partnership with @nslmbhm, @papajackbaseball, @bhambarons, and @themoderngreenbook, Jackie Robinson Day served as a dynamic intersection of sport, culture, and community impact.

Through youth-centered programming, live performances, and a curated vendor experience, we created an environment that both celebrated legacy and inspired the next generation.
