This is my great great grandmother, Sabina Anderson. She was born in Sweden in 1855 and migrated to the US on the ship S.S. Helvetia in 1885. She gave birth to 8 children and they eventually migrated to Murray, UT. Today is her birthday. She would be 171. I don’t know how I know it exactly, but I just have this sense that she would have loved me, that she would understand me and that I would have loved her. I feel we would have been great friends. by @papaoleen

Deanna and I made a quick trip to Utah weekend before last to take advantage of her last days of vacation before her school starts back up and deliver some things to her sister Alli in Cedar City. 2924 miles in 5 days! Great way to see the American Southwest but super exhalusting! We didn’t stop to take a lot of pics so windshield pics while driving will have to do.

Deanna was able to visit with Alli and her family and I was even able to take a side trip up to Provo and meet with Grizz and his family, play some Top Golf and eat some lunch!

The road was long but the time with family makes it worth it. I think we will just fly from now on though. by @papaoleen

Had a great day today! Made a trip to Houston to go to the temple and a book signing for author Paul Doiron - author of the Mike Bowditch ( The Poacher’s Son) series.

At the temple I ran into the parents of one of my mission companions and got to introduce myself to them. Wonderful people and meeting them was like meeting family - a true tender mercy. Absolute joy in the House of the Lord!

Then, made it to the book signing and picked up a copy of Doiron’s newest release “Storm Tide” and got to listen to him read the first chapter, talk about his writing, answer questions, and sign the book. Thrilling and inspiring!

Finished the day off watching a red-tailed hawk hunt from a power line against a gorgeous sunset.

Best day in a few months for me!

#projectsweatlikeafatman Day 2678

Well - another accountability post. I’ve had some setbacks and my weight is back up to 353 lbs but I haven’t quit yet. I’m committed to doing better going forward. No more excuses - it’s all about eating better and getting the right kind of exercise. I have a plan - just need to execute it. Never quit!

Today’s workout - 5 hours of lawn care in this heat. Pulling weeds, redistributing river rocks, grooming the pathway, trimming, and mowing. In total all day, over 5 miles and close to 2300 active calories burned. by @papaoleen

Hey @the_josemonkey - can you find me? If you do, it will be the first time you have found someone in this COUNTY. You have found 3 other people in the neighboring counties (hint - the closest two locations should be 32 miles away and the other was a real drag). I also submitted a video in 2023 that you haven’t found yet (submitted on TikTok). That one might be too hard - but if you find this one it should narrow it down enough to find that one as well. Took a short hike tonight to see if I could find the Barred Owls at Granger Lake. Didn’t find them but did catch an amazing sunset and this whitetail doe. I think she had a fawn nearby or it will be coming soon. by @papaoleen

My latest 1000 piece puzzle disguised as a “home improvement project”. I don’t like puzzles, or models for that matter - especially ones with “assembly instructions” that really only offer a vague whiff of “instructions” and rival graduate-level entrance exam logic problems. It said: “requires two people and takes two to three hours to assemble” - but I’m stubborn and only asked for help after I’d lost a good chunk of skin off a finger and it only took me five days spaced out over three weeks.

I should have Tom Sawyered someone into “helping” me (my boys have already clued into that trick) but I decided this would be a good chance to renew some of the vocabulary words I learned from my dad (sorry neighbors). At least I didn’t throw any tools across the yard and I did free up some space in the garage. by @papaoleen
