One of the things Studio Ghibli does better than almost anyone is make you imagine how a scene smells. Fresh bread cooling on a bakery shelf. Rain soaking into moss. Herbs drying by the window. Forests so alive they almost breathe. #InternationalTeaDay feels very relevant to someone whose fragrance collection increasingly suggests they enjoy smelling like niche interpretations of hot leaf water 🍵 Instead of organizing my tea perfumes by actual tea type, I prefer classifying them by atmosphere and vibes. Happy #internationalkittenday from the true owner of my perfume collection, Snow. 🐈 I’d like to believe these are the fragrances she would steal from my shelves if she ever figured out how to press an atomizer. It also felt like the perfect excuse to make a tiny dent in the thousands of photos of her currently occupying my phone. 🐈‍⬛ Lune Feline @atelierdesors When her inner black cat comes out. I regret to inform you that I have found another green perfume to obsess over. Morfosia from @saffnco satiates the part of my brain (and nose) that will always gravitate towards green scents. 💚 It opens spicy and vibrantly green, think neon and fluorescent. The yuzu and rhubarb are right up front, tart and bright, with cardamom and ginger adding that spicy, aromatic edge. It has a real zing to it, like someone turned the saturation all the way up on a green landscape. The narcissus and jasmine become more noticeable as it settles. They’re gentle, slightly dusty white florals, softening the sharpness without taking away from the green character. Then the vetiver starts to come through more, along with the amber and cedar. The drydown gets earthier and woodier, but that natural greenness sticks around. The fragrance evolves, but it never loses the thing that drew me in to begin with. Also, can we take a moment for Saff & Co.’s packaging? They consistently make such beautiful things, from their distinctive bottles to the boxes with the gorgeous art that they come in. I appreciate a brand that puts that much thought into the whole experience. I’ve gotten to know @findyourwone through their lighter, fresher scents centered around bamboo, white musk, citruses and ginger, with My Life, In Your Arms, Classic White and Up All Night being my solid picks from the brand. So the new Sweet Spot collection, created in collaboration with @tonisiaa, feels like an interesting departure from their usual scent profiles. This time, Wone is leaning into vanilla, adding milk, musk, coconut and spices, and exploring warmer, cozier scent territory. The three fragrances are Warm Vanilla, Sweet Seduction and Hypnotic Touch, each taking vanilla in a slightly different direction. 🥛 Sweet Seduction: milk, vanilla bean, white musk 🍦 Warm Vanilla: vanilla, spices, musk 🥥 Hypnotic Touch: vanilla, lactones, coconut, musk, smoke I’m glad I got to try these ahead of the holidays, because I can already see them making really nice Christmas gifts. @kiraparfums really committed to the coffee theme with Coffeeling. The full bottle comes in what looks like a little takeaway coffee cup, complete with a carton holder, while the sample arrives in its own tiny coffee sachet. I appreciate a brand that understands the assignment. 🤎 I love Vietnamese coffee, so I was hoping Coffeeling would give me the full-bodied, slightly bitter espresso experience. It’s way softer than that though. To my nose, it’s more like cold brew with brown sugar syrup and a sprinkling of spices, mainly cinnamon and a dash of cloves. As it dries down, the coffee gets milkier and turns into a sugared vanilla latte with amber and musk. It’s airy and light, so this is definitely not the kind of coffee scent that slaps you awake at 6 AM. It feels more like the cup you drink at the end of the day, when you want something warm and comforting to help you wind down. Which is probably a questionable life choice for actual coffee, but works perfectly well as perfume. Performance is soft to moderate at best for me, around four hours on skin, but I actually think the lighter character works in its favor. As the weather gets cooler, I’ve been reaching for two fragrances more and more: MITH Bangkok’s Oud & Black Tea and Atkinsons’ Oud Save the Queen. Both pair oud with tea, but they take that combination in such different directions. One makes me want to get dressed up and be a little mysterious. The other makes me want to cancel my plans, get under a blanket and watch the rain. #oud #teaperfume #nicheperfume #perfumecollection #autumnvibes🍁 🫖 Oud & Black Tea @mithbangkok Created by Quentin Bisch, this is one of my favorites from MITH Bangkok. Blackcurrant and bergamot give the opening a bright, fruity lift before the rose, black tea and oud take center stage. Everything feels incredibly smooth and well blended. The rose adds polish, the tea brings a dark aromatic quality, and the oud gives it depth without feeling heavy-handed. It smells modern but timeless, suave and elegant. I find it comforting and enveloping, but there’s also something alluring and magnetic about it. This is what I reach for when I want to feel particularly put together. 👑 Oud Save the Queen @atkinsons1799.london Oud Save the Queen is from another Givaudan alumni, Francis Deleamont. It takes the combination somewhere softer and more comforting, with Earl Grey tea, jasmine, orange blossom, cloves, tonka bean and oud. There’s a slightly medicinal edge at the opening, but it dissipates quickly. What follows is warm Earl Grey tea, a bouquet of white florals and a generous helping of tonka that turns almost chocolatey on my skin. The oud is present, but more of a supporting character than the main event. This is sweater-weather perfume for me. The kind I want on a cool Sunday morning when getting out of bed feels optional, or when I’m tucked into a café watching the rain with absolutely no reason to be anywhere else. I love that both share the same basic idea but give me two very different moods. Oud & Black Tea is for going out and making an impression. Before we officially say goodbye to Mid-Autumn Festival, I can’t not talk about @dannam.parfums Mooncake. 🌕🥮 I’m not particularly big on gourmands, but this one is interesting because of its savory-sweet take. Texture-wise, it feels smooth, buttery and dense, very much like an actual mooncake. Honeyed, golden and nutty, with a subtle toasted quality that keeps it from feeling too cloying. As it settles, the buttery richness softens into a warm, slightly woody sweetness, while the nuttiness and salt lingers close to the skin. It gets quieter and more mellow with time, and has a soft projection all throughout the wear.
