Suprina’s reading diary📚
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Almost a decade back, I walked around the streets of Prague without knowing anything about Kafka. I wasn't a reader back then. I only remember how strange and mystical the city felt. Now, reading Letters to Milena took me straight back there.

The letters begin formally and slowly become more personal. Even the greetings and sign-offs change, and I loved noticing that. What stayed with me is how closely Kafka notices Milena’s moods and her health, and how thoughtful he is about the language she writes in.

It felt like more than love letters. It's two people sharing loneliness, ideas and pain, with a lot of care and hope, even though they both seem to know it can't go anywhere.

I loved how freely Kafka writes to Milena, without fear of being judged, but you can also feel him choosing his words carefully, so he won't hurt her.

It felt a bit heavy after I completed reading this book. But I took a lot from it. The words that stayed with me: empathy, calmness, boundaries, respect, resilience and patience.

For longest.. I used to think reading as a source of entertainment and information only . Until, I found beautiful reads. And these fours are some of them, which unexpectedly healed me. Healed me in a way with wounds I never had. Made me more sensible, empathetic and more kinder versions of myself.
Dear fellow readers friends, do you also relate to me? I’d love to hear from you 👇

It’s a heartwarming exercise to write everything you feel when you’re reading a book. Just writing with a flow without a judgment and without a fear of being grammatically incorrect.

I had a thrilling time reading The Silent Patient by @alex.michaelides . It felt like peeling back cabbage leaves, layer after layer, expecting to hit a solid core at the end. I wasn’t disappointed when I didn’t find one, because I enjoyed the journey of peeling each leaf.

My sister, my friends, and a few other readers all recommended it. I kept my expectations low, but it surpassed them. It’s not just the plot. Michaelides’s writing style is refreshing and unintimidating. He gives you the full context and connects it piece by piece, until it all comes together like a beautiful necklace, a full circle. I’d recommend it to anyone, any day.

A week ago, I read The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, and I didn’t see it as a strange story, but as a mirror. In the story, Gregor Samsa woke up transformed into a giant insect. Instead of panicking about his health, his immediate thought was how he will get to work and avoid letting down his family and his boss.

I have gone through multiple surgeries for different reasons and always been navigating through a fragile immune system.

With Kafa’s story, Gregor never realized that his sacrifice was a choice. With a similar situation, I have chosen a different path than Gregor. With passing years, my mindset has changed and evolved. And I believe, Im strong, my body has survived every single surgery and I honor my resilience.

My family, especially my husband’s willingness to care for me is an absolute gift, not a debt that I have to repay. 🧿 So, my well-being is my sole-responsibility. Choosing self-love is no longer selfish for me. I have realized that I need to fill my own cup first so that I stop worrying about burdening others.

Dear fellow reader friends, have you read this 📕 book? What are your thoughts, would love you hear from you all?

A ‘room’ here’s holds more than a space. Owning a room for a woman symbolizes having a freedom for creativity and growth. So that she could lead the life on her own terms and without dependency. Enjoyed this read thoroughly “ A Room of One’s Own” by Virginia Woolf.
