Business is not easy at all!

There will be days when the numbers don’t make sense, customers test your patience, and everything feels like it is happening at once.

Here are 4 things that have helped me navigate the hard days:

1. Show up.
Even when you don’t feel like it, keep moving. Consistency matters.
2. Master your cash flow.
Know what is coming in, what is going out, and when your bills are due. Your cash flow tells you a lot about the health of your business.
3. Keep your customers close.
Listen to them. Understand their needs. Build relationships beyond the transaction.
4. Surround yourself with the right people.
Your team, mentors, partners and friends matter. Build a circle of people who challenge you, support you and keep you accountable.

Building a multi-million kwacha business in Malawi? I built mine at the age of 28, and here are 3 lessons I live by:

1. I price based on my costs, not client budgets. Profit matters.

2. I know my numbers—cash flow, margins, and expenses guide every decision.

3. I focus on business development. If you’re not growing, you’re just self-employed.
