Presentation is everything, and that’s one of the reasons we have stopped mailing invitations with postage stamps. Instead, we have transitioned to custom mailers, which provide more flexibility with design than a standard envelope, and we are also able to ship them as parcels. This allows each and every invitation that leaves the studio to be tracked, and delivered within 2 to 4 days. Faster delivery means envelopes are not caught in the system for multiple weeks and generally arrive to guests in better condition than a mailed envelope. The best part is that the management and coordination of this process is included in our custom invitation design services! A venue can offer some of the best design cues. For this celebration at The Willard, we wanted to nod to Peacock Alley without turning the peacock into an obvious theme. Instead, we treated it as a recurring detail: woven into the invitation artwork, carried onto the menus, and transformed into sculptural escort cards for the reception. It became a quiet thread throughout the design—recognizable once you arrived at the venue, but subtle enough to feel considered rather than literal. The best references don’t need to announce themselves. Sometimes they simply make the entire experience feel more connected. Custom design begins by establishing a visual language—one rooted in the couple, their story and the world we want the wedding to inhabit. Anna’s time living in Japan became a personal point of departure for Anna & Kip, informing the delicate botanical references, refined palette and sense of restraint throughout the design. From there, we thoughtfully evolved that language from piece to piece—and eventually, throughout the wedding itself. Rather than repeating the same design, each element carries the story forward in a different way. The result feels layered and collected rather than overly coordinated.
