april travel dump - leiden day 1 🗝️

the first thing we did after getting off the plane, through customs, and gathering our bags was eat! found a place right outside the airport and had my first proper cheese sandwich. then we navigated the train to leiden where we were staying for a week. it was such a nice day outside so we walked to the hotel we were staying at and were already getting to see a windmill. it was so surreal seeing so many bikes.

after dropping our stuff we went back outside to stay moving - exploring down different streets and canals (and a bookstore hehe). there were so many people outside having ice cream so we were inspired to do the same. to end the day we found a restaurant where we could sit by the canal and have some delicious food before crashing. what a view 😍 by @paradeoflaughter

april travel dump part 1 ✈️ taking plane photos is my favorite. There's just something about being above the clouds that's so pretty. I always try and get roughly the same seat so I can have one of the wings in the photos.

Our first leg was overnight to Dublin. I had the book I had just gotten but honestly I find it so hard to read on planes. Idk if I just get too distracted by outside or the free movies 😂 Although I tried to go to sleep right away to help get adjusted to timezones. I woke up early enough to get a good view of the sunrise and get an extra breakfast for my sleeping husband. Took one singular photo in the Dublin airport (that was packed) and then off to Amsterdam. We got a great view of the tulip fields flying in. 🌷 by @paradeoflaughter

april dump 🪻(part 1 - pre trip) I'm finally back to posting pictures. I had so many pictures from the trip I took in April and kept putting off sorting out which ones I wanted to post so now I'm starting with the ones from the first half of April.

More signs of spring, a puzzle I did with family, got to see Schwab in person for her new book she co-wrote, voted, and got a fresh haircut at my happy place amidst packing and planning for the trip! Last pictures were with a new phone cause mine decided to die with no warning the day before my trip 🥲

stay tuned for fun trip pictures 😊 by @paradeoflaughter

march dump ❄️

I didn't take many pictures in march. The snow from january was still around and then more showed up. I went for a lot of walks while listening to audiobooks and trying to catch glimpses of spring. Also featuring yummy food I ate. by @paradeoflaughter

february dump 💖 (also I learned you can change the ratio of the pictures so that's nice)

The highlight of february was definitely seeing dodie in concert again. she was stunning and also her opener andy louis was really lovely.

I was still feeling pretty shitty in february so I decided to go to a mini hotel staycation at a spa hotel in DC where they had wellness classes like yoga and a sauna and massage. The hotel was really pretty, but not as comfy as I ultimately wanted which was unfortunate. And the wellness center was right by a place people and companies could go to for conference space or co-working so you'd just be showing up in your sweats not wanting to be perceived and walking by people in suits. I ended up going to tatte a million times cause it was close to the hotel and i love their food and they had good space for sitting and reading/journaling/etc. The worst part of the stay was on the last morning when i had late checkout and woke up (early) to the sound of something i should not be hearing and found out water was dripping from the ceiling cause of all the rain??? So I had to call the front desk and pack up all my shit. They did move me to another room but it was not the end of a relaxing stay that I'd wanted.

Also it had been so cold that the river had frozen and you could still see chunks of ice floating around which was pretty. And I had pancakes on pancake day. by @paradeoflaughter

january dump ❄️ (yes I'm doing a back dump don't come for me 😭)

january was really shitty, but I was sustained by books, puzzles, cafes, my hairstylist, self-care nights, shoveling snow to feel the wind on my face, and my husband's bread making adventures. by @paradeoflaughter

One of the best things I found in 2025 (thanks to my coming back to Instagram and the algorithm) is Book it Around DC (@bookitaround ). It's an audiobook walking group that gets together about once a month and we all listen to our own audiobooks and walk.

I ended up going to 3 walks in 2025 and it was such a good way to get out of the house on the weekend and be around other book lovers. As an introvert, I love getting together with other people to do our own things so this has been perfect for that. In December we even had a social afterwards with cute little treats on a cold snowy magical day.

Thank you so much Kit & Morgan for starting this group! I can't wait to go on more walks this year! by @paradeoflaughter

I visited several independent bookstores this year and wanted to mention some of my favorites (not in any particular order).

When I was in Chicago back in April I went to the West Loop branch of Open Books and came home with 3 gems. They have both used and new books. Highly recommend if you're in Chicago!

One bookstore I kept going back to was Kramers in Washington, DC. It's super cute and also has food. What more could you want? And they always decorate their front window for the season!

Another bookstore I love is One More Page Books. They're a little out of the way for me to get to, but I always try and make a trip over when I can (and order from them online when I can't). They're the smallest store on this list, but a super cute space, have fun events like the Twilight 20th Anniversary one pictured here, and have really nice staff to help you with your book (and more) needs.

Last, but certainly not least was a bookstore I visited in CT called Book Barn. They have a HUGE selection of used books (and other physical media). You could spend hours there and still not see everything. Also one of their locations even has goats. The only downside is you might need to buy an extra suitcase to fit all the books you leave with.

QOTD: Have you visited any of these bookstores or have any other independent bookstores you love? by @paradeoflaughter

Thinking back to the warmer months as I sit under a warm blanket with slippers on. I didn't get around to posting at all really this year, but plan on doing some wrap-ups and favorites before the end of the year 💖 by @paradeoflaughter

📚met up with a friend and her friend at a local bookstore and they had the cutest pride decor. 🌈 Front window of Kramers bookstore. Window is decorated for pride with hearts of the different pride flags and words that say "Happy Pride!!!". Window ledge is lined with books standing up so you can see their covers. taken in Washington D. C. by @paradeoflaughter
