A life extraordinary. A legacy that lives on.

Today marks one year since the passing of Charles Tobias (1934–2025), the remarkable man who founded @pussersrum.

A Marine Corps pilot, adventurer, sailor and entrepreneur, Charles lived a life few could imagine. But among his many achievements was a passion that would become his lasting legacy: preserving the historic rum tradition of the British Royal Navy.

In 1979, Charles brought that tradition back to life, founding Pusser’s Rum in the British Virgin Islands and sharing a piece of naval history with the world.

Today, we honour his memory with the introduction of Pusser’s Founder’s Reserve, an exceptional limited-edition rum that faithfully recreates the very first blend Charles created in 1979.

Bringing together remarkable rums from Guyana, Trinidad and the British Virgin Islands, Founder’s Reserve is more than a tribute. It is a chance to experience the spirit with which his Pusser’s journey began.

Fair winds and following seas, Charles. Your legacy lives on.

AND YOUR 2026 BOLS COCKTAIL BATTLE UK CHAMPION IS… MICHAEL EDWARDS! 🏆💙

Michael took the title with Provincial - a bright, bittersweet blue serve combining Bols Blue 1575, Bols Peach, lime and bitter lemon.

Inspired by the instantly recognisable pub cocktails of the 1990s, Provincial delivered colour, nostalgia and plenty of personality.

A huge congratulations to Michael, who will now join Bols champions from around the world for the ultimate bartender getaway in Amsterdam. 🇳🇱

And an enormous shoutout to all eight finalists. The creativity, skill and energy behind every drink were incredible - you all absolutely smashed it.

The Bols Cocktail Battle UK Final 2026 was an absolute blast. Eight brilliant bartenders, eight completely amazing interpretations of Neon Nights, and incredible creativity from the first pour to the final call.

A huge thank you to every finalist who stepped behind the bar, our judges, the team at MDNT, everyone who helped bring the event to life and, of course, everyone who joined us to cheer them on.

About last Thursday 🥂☀️

100+ of you partied with us at the tiniest pub in the world on the Motley Terrace last week - and we had a ball.

To complete Cognac Day (turned into a week at @derwent.walker 👀), here is one very famous Cognac cocktail.

The Vieux Carré.
(Voo-Ka-Ray)

A classic, potent New Orleans cocktail. First mixed in 1938 by Walter Bergeron at the Carousel Bar inside the Hotel Monteleone, its name translates to "Old Square," a nod to the city's French Quarter.

To mix this beauty, get a mixing glass, and throw in:
* 30ml Cognac of choice (for this fine serve, @naud_distillery VS cognac was used - and it is a beauty! 😍).
* 30ml Rye Whiskey
* 30ml Sweet Vermouth
* 1/2 bar spoon Benedictine
2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
2 dashes Angostura bitters

Throw in some ice and stir for 15 seconds to combine and dilute.

Strain into a chilled stemmed glass.

Serve with a maraschino cherry and a lemon twist.
