Some places leave a sense of themselves in a drink.

In Kumamoto, @bar_yakoboku_kumamoto looks closely at plants, seasons, aromas, and the land around them. Working with local ingredients, they create drinks that carry a quiet sense of where they come from.

Rather than turning local culture into something obvious, YAKOBOKU looks for the smaller things — the scent of a plant, the change of a season, the slow relationship between people and nature.

This September, YAKOBOKU comes to Paral.

5th Anniversary｜MUD&FIELD｜August 30 🍞

For the first time, we’re inviting someone from outside the bar world to join our anniversary.

Mud&Field is a natural-yeast bakery in Liangzhu, Hangzhou, built around wood-fired bread, local ingredients, fermentation, and time.

We’ve always been drawn to their quiet and thoughtful way of making things — not chasing trends, but staying close to the land, the grain, and the slow changes brought by fermentation.

For this evening, four cocktails from our past menus will meet four breads from Mud&Field.

We’re curious to see what happens when two familiar things meet somewhere new. 🥖

5th Anniversary｜BAR US｜August 19 🥂

For our fifth anniversary, we’re welcoming @bar.us.bkk from Bangkok to Paral.

Rather than simply looking at what makes a great bar, Bar Us asks where a drink can come from — Thai food, memories, spices, fermentation, and the everyday life of a city, reimagined through contemporary techniques.

We first met their sister bar, Messenger Service, at our anniversary last year. This time, Bar Us itself is coming to Hangzhou.

From Bangkok to Hangzhou, we’re looking forward to exploring the intersections of taste, culture, and contemporary life together.

A refreshing, fizzy fruit tea base is created by blending Tie Guan Yin soda with pink guava cordial, offering a crisp, invigorating sip. The sharp, aromatic scent of wasabi rises quickly to the nose, delivering a bold, spicy kick. However, only a small amount of wasabi essence is extracted through rotary distillation, providing a subtle, energizing lift that awakens the senses while gently calming the palate.

At the beginning of the new year, paral.space is pleased to invite artist Yu ChenTing to present the exhibition "Can I Pray for a Space for You?".

The exhibition kicks off with a sound healing performance, inviting participants to fully immerse in the state of "present-moment awareness," where "the present" is recognized as the only existed dimension of time. This experience resembles the state of Samadhi in Indian yoga—transcending the passage of time and the constraints of space, entering the "eternal now." By focusing on the ebb and flow of thoughts and emotions, participants release their fear of time’s passage, relax brain areas related to time perception (such as the prefrontal cortex and insula), and thus embrace the impermanence of life, achieving inner peace and adaptability.

The central symbol of the exhibition, the hexagram, appears frequently in religious and mystical contexts throughout history and culture. Here, the artist introduces its symbolic meaning of "being and non-being." The upward triangle represents the spiritual or divine realm, while the downward triangle symbolizes the material world or human existence. The overlapping of these two triangles forms a bridge, suggesting a deep connection between the macrocosmic universe and the microcosmic individual.
Additionally, the artist draws upon the hexagram’s role in astrology, where it is interpreted as a powerful cosmic symbol linked to the harmonious aspects and energy flow between planets, especially within the "Grand Trine" configuration. The vase, the incense holder, and the candlestick carefully placed in the exhibition space are not only aesthetic objects but also metaphorically represent the relationship between existence, time, and the container. by @paral_hz
