Follow @paramountwoodco to find out why one walnut table costs $50,000 and another costs $10,000.

Same wood species. Very different pieces.

Here is what actually drives the price…

At the top is Clara Walnut, the Ferrari of walnut dining tables. We sourced it from Northern California with the highest pedigree of grain pattern all the way down. This tree grew for over 100 years to reach this size.

Next is our bookmatch walnut table, sourced right in our backyard in Bucks County, PA. We take two matching slabs and open them like a book to create a mirror effect down the center. At $17,000, it is the most incredible piece you can buy at that price.

Then there is our Divergent Series, our entry level table. We take multiple wide planks of locally grown walnut and join them for an incredible result without breaking the bank.

And for our more artistic clients, we take a naturally decayed walnut slab and fill the gaps with epoxy to create something abstract and completely one of a kind.

Four tables, one species, four completely different pieces.

Every one designed with you.

One of one. First of its kind.

The Burl & Resin Tambour Door Console brings together Buckeye Burl, deep green resin, Ziricote shelving, and an ebonized Tiger Maple base into a piece unlike anything we’ve built before.

Every surface tells a different part of the story — from the organic burl movement and translucent resin to the handcrafted tambour doors, interior lighting, and sculpted details throughout.

A true one-of-one console, designed and built to blur the line between furniture, function, and art.

Materials: Buckeye Burl, green resin, Ziricote, hafele lighting system and ebonized Tiger Maple

From The Slab Library | Vol. 028

This week’s selection: a 13’ Live Edge Single Red Elm Slab.

There’s something especially striking about a single slab of this size. The natural grain, movement and live edge give you a glimpse of the tree as it once stood — and make pieces like this increasingly rare to come across.

Red Elm brings warmth, character and a distinctive grain pattern that makes it an incredible foundation for a custom dining table or statement piece.

Every slab in our library presents a different opportunity — and every piece can be designed around your space, style and vision.

Your custom build awaits.

FROM THE ARCHIVE | 10’ White Oak Farm Table

Built for a returning client after their previous dining table began to fail after only a few years.

We created a new 10-foot farm-style table featuring a 2” stained White Oak tongue-and-groove top, finished with a substantial White Oak beam and custom black steel base.

A piece designed around the home, built for everyday use, and made to stay there for a long time.

Originally created for a beautiful Pennsylvania residence.

THE DETAIL | Bow Ties

Small detail. Important job.

Bow ties — also known as butterfly keys — are inlaid across cracks and checks in a slab to help stabilize the wood and resist further separation.

Each one is fitted into a precisely cut recess, locking the material together across the split. Depending on the piece, the bow tie can either quietly blend into the surrounding wood or become a deliberate visual element of the design.

What begins as a structural solution becomes part of the character of the finished piece.

This week’s selection: a 16’ Live Edge Bookmatched Red Elm Slab.

Red Elm doesn’t always get the attention of Walnut or other highly sought-after species, but its subtle grain movement and natural character make it an incredible foundation for a custom dining table.

Every slab in our library presents a different opportunity — and every piece can be designed around your space, style and vision.

Your custom build awaits.

FROM THE ARCHIVE | Custom Portfolio Stand

Designed for a local couple with an ever-growing collection of concert tour posters, this custom ebonized ash stand was created to hold their portfolio while still commanding attention on its own.

The angular form turns a functional display into a sculptural piece — designed around the collection, but made to stand alone in the space.

Custom designed. Handcrafted in New Hope, PA.

THE DETAIL | Waterfall Edge

A waterfall edge allows the natural grain of the wood to continue from the top of a piece down its side, creating the appearance of one uninterrupted slab.

On this Box Elder desk, careful slab selection and precise joinery allow the grain, spalting and natural character to flow through the corner rather than simply stopping at the edge.

It’s a detail that looks effortless when finished, but requires planning and precision long before final assembly.

Designed for function. Built to be seen.

Our Live Edge Black Walnut Sideboard Buffet pairs the natural character of Black Walnut with clean, uninterrupted lines and a surprising amount of storage.

A bookmatched Black Walnut slab forms the live-edge top and waterfall sides, while the drawer and cabinet fronts were created from a single board to carry the grain continuously across the face of the piece.

Behind that exterior, the details are all about function… deep drawers, adjustable recessed shelving, soft-close Blum hardware and push-activated cabinet doors that keep the focus exactly where it belongs: on the wood.

At 60” long x 20” deep x 36” high, it can serve as a dining room buffet, living room storage piece or an elevated solution for a home office.

A Paramount Wood Co. Exclusive Design.

Handcrafted in the USA and available to order in a variety of wood species and sizes.

From the archive | one worth revisiting.

This custom Black Walnut bookmatched coffee table was built to feel substantial without overwhelming the room.

The natural edge brings just enough movement to the top, while the simple walnut base keeps the focus on the wood itself.

Seeing it in its finished space is still one of our favorite parts.
