🤍 Today is World Drowning Prevention Day.

💧Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4 in the United States.

Most families don’t begin thinking about water safety until their child is walking or ready for swim lessons.

At Parent & Pool, we believe water safety begins at home—with the parents.

It begins with peaceful baths.

With connection.

With trust.

With hundreds of small moments that help children build a healthy relationship with water from the very beginning.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between a baby’s first experience with water and their first swim lesson—helping families build water comfort, confidence, and safer habits along the way.

Nothing replaces close supervision, multiple layers of protection, or quality swim instruction. We simply believe every positive experience with water matters.

Because the safest swimmers aren’t made in a day.

They’re shaped one peaceful moment at a time. 💙

Water safety begins long before a child learns to swim. 💧

It begins at home — in the first baths, the first experiences with water, and the small, intentional moments that help a child develop comfort and confidence as they grow.

And it continues through layers of protection: attentive supervision, secure barriers, caregiver education, water competency and CPR.

For families with young children, especially during the already-full seasons of postpartum and early parenthood, this information shouldn’t feel overwhelming or difficult to find. Parents deserve clear, age-appropriate guidance they can actually use.

That’s what we’re building at Parent & Pool.

From birth through age four. From the bathtub to the pool. One small layer of protection at a time.

Because water safety begins at home — but protecting children takes all of us. 🤍 taken in Orange County, California by @parentandpool

Your baby’s first swim lesson might look and sound a little different than you imagined. 💧

🔉Sound on for this one.
We intentionally kept the original audio so you could hear what these early water experiences can really sound like. Gentle voices, happy encouragement, little smiles, and a peaceful introduction to the water.🩵

🤍✨Still on maternity leave? This can be such a beautiful way to get out of the house, connect with your baby, and experience something new together.

At 3 months old, it’s not about teaching a baby to swim or rescue themselves. It’s about introducing water through calm, age-appropriate experiences. 💧

These early moments can be the beginning of a family’s water-safety journey. As children grow and become developmentally ready, formal swim lessons can help them build water competency and essential survival skills. 🩵

And just as important… parents are learning, too. 🩵

At Parent & Pool, we believe water safety begins with parents, long before children can understand the risks around them. It takes layers of protection, informed caregivers, and continued learning.

🩵The first lesson? Comfort, connection, and trust.

✨ A special thank you to Coach Karen @karenofski and Ginny of @swimwatersafe, the team behind the Smart Fish Method, whose expertise helps shape Parent & Pool’s approach to early water education.

The best time to introduce a life jacket isn’t when you’re already standing on the dock. 💧

Life jackets can feel bulky and unfamiliar to little ones. If you know a boat day, lake trip or other adventure is coming, bring the life jacket home early.

Let them try it on. Practice wearing it. Make them captain for the afternoon. ❤️ Let “life jacket” become familiar before you’re in a situation where wearing one isn’t negotiable.

Choose a properly fitted, properly fastened U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jacket for the child and activity — and remember that even with a life jacket on, little ones still need close, attentive supervision.

Comfort with the gear. Confidence in the routine. Another layer of protection. 🛟

Water safety isn’t one thing. It’s layers. 💧 taken in United States America by @parentandpool

10 school buses.
It’s a number that should stop us mid-scroll.

But awareness alone doesn’t prevent drowning. What we do with that awareness matters. 🩵

💧Water safety isn’t one lesson, one fence, one watchful parent, or one swimming skill. It’s layers — built around our children as they grow.

🛟 Barriers. Active supervision. Water competency. Life jackets. Emergency preparation.

Some layers happen around the pool. Some happen in the water. And some begin long before we ever planned a swim day.

At Parent & Pool, we believe parents deserve clear, practical water-safety education from the very beginning — because the more we know, the more intentionally we can protect. 🩵🩵

It takes layers. It takes education. It takes all of us. 💧

❤️Save this. Share it with another parent. And talk about water safety before you need to. taken in Orange County, California by @parentandpool

Following one baby’s first year in the water—from the very first baths to confident back floating.

Because water confidence isn’t built in a single lesson.

It’s built through calm introductions, gentle experiences, and hundreds of small moments along the way.

This is one of those moments. 🤍💧

One peaceful moment at a time.

Every child has a first experience with water.

Before swimming.
Before floating.
Before lessons.

It begins with something as simple as a calm, peaceful bath.

This is where trust starts—gentle touch, warm water, slow movements, and allowing your baby to experience the warmth, support, and comfort of being surrounded by water. 💧

No fancy equipment. No rush. Just connection.

As a mom and the founder of Parent & Pool, I’m so excited to share this next chapter with you. Now that my 2nd born is here, you’ll get to follow our journey from the very beginning as we explore how water comfort grows into water confidence- one small, intentional moment at a time.

This is only the beginning.

Stay with us as we grow from first baths… to first splashes… to first floating skills… one peaceful step at a time. 🤍

Because water safety doesn’t begin with swim lessons.

It begins with us.

Some days feel full before they even begin. 🤍

If you’re overwhelmed, overstimulated, or just running out of ways to settle your baby…
this is your reminder that it can be simple.

Draw a warm bath.
Hold your baby on your chest.
Let the water do the work.

This isn’t about bubbles or getting clean —
it’s about slowing down, regulating your nervous system, and reconnecting in a way that feels natural for both of you.

In the water, babies feel light, supported — almost like the womb.
Close, calm, and held.

It can be a reset in the morning, a pause in the afternoon, or a gentle way to wind down before sleep.
Even breastfeeding can happen here — soft, quiet, uninterrupted.

No pressure. No routine to perfect.
Just water, warmth, and connection. 💧

This is how we slowed down. 🤍

This is how we connected.
This is how my daughter learned calm.

This was never about getting her clean.

Warm water, being close, letting it run gently over her face —
it became her signal that rest was coming.

And without even trying,
we were building water comfort from the very beginning.

By the time most families start, the resistance is already there.
It doesn’t have to be. 💧

Parent & Pool was born from this —
helping new moms see how simple it can be to step into the bath with your baby.

No pressure. No perfect routine.
Not about soap or getting it right.

Just water, warmth, and learning to slow down —
for both of you. 🤍
