In the early summer i had a chance to do a food performance „Sleeping balloons of Lahore“. I organised a workshop where we made Pathora bread - a fluffy Ballon shape bread. That’s a classic street food from lahore which is my hometown. The shared experience to make it together with everyone added more fun and excitement for myself.
Tomorrow on 13th Sept, i‘ll be doing another food performance in a similar fashion. This time it‘s going to be Samosas!!! Come by, i‘d be happy to see you.

We are happy to announce that the vocal ensemble @otucha_collective will join us at our launch event on 13.09! 
Otucha is a Polish word for an act of care between living beings — to give someone otucha is to lift their spirits and surround them with comfort and encouragement.

Otucha Collective is a Berlin-based vocal ensemble whose work explores the healing and empowering qualities of the human voice within the contexts of social relationships, community-building, and the environment. The collective’s practice centres on the rural singing traditions of Eastern Europe, extended through somatic practice, deep listening, and experimental voice work. We’re excited to announce the release of our publication “Parenting Climate”, a book that brings together artistic practices, essays, reflections, documentation, and different perspectives on parenting, care, climate, and the conditions in which children grow up.

The publication opens with a foreword by @renata_mueti and alisatrotz and , followed by texts on the idea behind the project and the curatorial approach. It also includes press reviews and three central essays:

“Parenting in a Hot Climate” by @jacintanandi, and
“Das Klima für (oder gegen) behinderte Kinder” by @mareicares and one essay by Josephine Apraku. At the heart of the publication is a section dedicated to the participating artists @tsaifuho, @constanzacf, @alitrotz, @catherineroseevans, @sophiamuriel_, @brotherjide, @ninalacey, @laecha, and @renata_mueti, bringing together their different artistic perspectives and approaches to the themes explored throughout the project.

The book also documents the accompanying events of the exhibition, including Sleeping Balloons, the Food Performance and Workshop by Sakhi Mansoor, as well as NICHT NUR MÜTTER WAREN SCHWANGER, a mending workshop by Constanza Carvajal.

The publication further features a closer look at the venues and the collaboration between Silent Rixdorf and Scheune 61.

To round out the publication, there are additional press reviews and sources, making the book not only a documentation of the exhibition, but also a collection of voices, encounters, artistic practices, and reflections around parenting, care, climate, and social conditions.

✨ A publication that continues the conversation beyond the exhibition.

Care Sock

A Sock Repair Workshop for lone and not-so- lone socks

In this hands-on workshop, participants are invited to bring their worn-out socks, thosę relegated to the drawer, basket, or sock box, rarely seeing daylight, as well as lone socks left unpaired.
Thin areas, marks, and holes will be cared for, extending their life through the darning technique (grid). Using colorful threads, we will reinforce and reimagine these everyday items in a moment of togetherness.

The workshop draws inspiration from artistic practices of mending and reuse; focusing on an item that wears out quickly and is often affordable to replace, making it seem disposable. By resisting together this cycle of discarding, we will turn them into different expressions of care.
 Materials (thread, needles, and others) will be provided.  Paired and unpaired socks are welcome-bring yours and join.

Behind the scenes of making my new work Sprachkette 👀💥

The final work is on view as part of @parentingclimate: an exhibition across two locations about intergenerational responsibility in the midst of the climate crisis.

Thank you @kaygarnellen for beeing Part of our reading event on 13.06.26 at @silentrixdorfgarden at 3 pm.

KAy Garnellen is an activist for trans* rights, sex/body workers, and an artist.
He focuses primarily on issues of sexuality and gender, but since the birth of his child, he has also been exploring the topic of parenthood. He enjoys collaborating with other artists, activists, and body workers.
KAy can be seen performing in queer theater productions, at parties, and at festivals. He appears in porn films and other movies and has directed four short porn films. KAy also works with other media, such as photography and writing, and leads workshops on topics related to trans issues, sexuality, and alternative family structures.
