Sorkh Tangos — Babak Amini
More than a traditional Flamenco tango, Sorkh Tangos feels to me like a piece of modern Flamenco, with interesting syncopations and highly instructive call-and-response phrases.
One of the main challenges I faced while learning and performing this piece was playing it with a pick.
Babak Amini himself comes from a Flamenco guitar background and, like most Flamenco players, performs with his fingernails. Translating those techniques and articulations to a pick was a challenge of its own — and a very interesting one.
And perhaps the most unusual part of my version: a Flamenco piece, played on a classical guitar, by a jazz guitarist — with a pick.
🎸 A great piece for exploring rhythm, phrasing, syncopation, and the dialogue between melodic ideas.

Joe Pass — Virtuoso

One of the most beautiful examples of chord melody in jazz guitar.

This arrangement proves that music doesn't have to be complex to be complete. Every melody is supported by harmony, allowing a single guitar to sound full on its own.

Montague Sainte Genevieve (Valse A Django)
This is one of the most useful pieces that you can look for in gypsy jazz style if you're looking to improve your swipe picking through acoustic arpeggiated sequences, it also contains linear lines that I have played some of them off-beat...The key to play these challenging solos, is to pick every note instead of letting them flow through legatos.

The Allan Holdsworth's lick number 3.
Here you can see a lick by Allan which I decided to play on a swing rhythm and a little bit slower. The fact is Allan doesn't pick all the notes, he picks some and rest of them will flow through the legatos.

Happy birthday Al Di Meola !
Definitely Al Di has been one of the most influencial guitarists in my entire life; practicing his great sense of time, syncopated rhythms and fantastic solos turned my whole playing upside down and taught me to look at the guitar wisely.
Today I'm honoured to play this piece, Mediterranean Sundance which got very famous in the world by Al Di Meola and Paco. There is actually an interesting story about the first time that they met eachother and played together ( if you know, you know..:) firstly, they were too nervous to play, and as the time went by, the became a perfect match.
