For days, I have watched young Iranians being led to the gallows while much of the world remains silent. We remember: • Saleh Mohammadi • Mehdi Ghasemi • Saeed Davoudi • Gol Mohammad Mohammadi • Erfan Esfandiari • Abdolfazl Sepahi Badjani • Amir Hossein Safari Hosseinabadi • Arvin Kheirkhah • Omid Behzad, executed today. Every one of these names was a human being with a family, dreams, and a future. We also remember Anahita Azarshab, who has been widely reported by Iranian activists and others to have been killed while protesting the recent executions in Isfahan. If those reports are accurate, her death is another heartbreaking reminder of the price Iranians are paying simply for demanding freedom. What hurts almost as much as these tragedies is the silence. Where is the outrage from the self proclaimed humanitarians? Where are the loud voices behind “Queers for Palestine”? Where are all those who claim to stand for universal human rights? Many had no hesitation speaking out when Israel and the United States attacked Iran. Yet when the Islamic Republic kills Iranians, executes young men, imprisons protesters, and crushes those demanding freedom, so many of those same voices are nowhere to be found. The Iranian people have spent years risking and losing their lives for freedom. Thousands have reportedly been killed, imprisoned, tortured, or executed for standing against the regime, yet their suffering has received only a fraction of the global attention given to other conflicts. To the people of Iran: you are not forgotten. May the names of those executed and those killed for demanding freedom live on. May the world finally find the courage to speak up. #iranwar #irandemonstrations #stopexecutionsiniran #womenlifefreedom #iran by @pariroehi
