Did a thing today that was quite scary as a writer who hides behind words! I didn’t upload the whole scene because it was 3.5 minutes, but I hope this gives an idea 🫡

What if Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” characters were all good people; only victim’s of someone else’s best intentions gone awry?

What if they thought they deserved it?

I am thrilled to bring you WHAT THE SOUND CARRIED, an adult horror complete at 104,000 words that blends a sweeping love story with historical horror through atmospheric prose as in VAMPIRES OF EL NORTE by Isabel Cañas with a vengeful past as in THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS by Stephen Graham Jones.

Last time I’ll gush over this! Big thanks to PNWA! I’m so grateful for the opportunity to submit my work.

This was the book that taught me how to write a book, and while my focus is on querying my second manuscript (which I start sending out in two weeks) I take this as a sign to not let What The Sound Carried go. It has so much potential, it just wasn’t the right time! 🖤🌫️

This book is perfect for fans of historical horrormance authors such as Isabel Cañas, which means there is space and longing for it somewhere!

Going to the places in my manuscript really helped with sensory detail, and while I did live in Wilmington once and could pull from that experience, there were a few locations that needed a trip of their own. So glad I did this.

This wasn’t the only stop on my trip, but was definitely one of the most stunning.

The coolest part about visiting that church will be posted in another reel, but I’m holding onto that story for now!

While older brother is out fishing we welcome summerween! Only 6,000 words in, but the lore is all baked and ready to go. This novel takes place on the same island I wrote for my first manuscript, but set in present day. It’s basically Home Alone x Widow’s Bay but with epistolary elements between chapters of prose.

I only posted a snippet before! Here’s the entire scene which fits perfectly into 3 minutes! OBSESSION meets The Hacienda. I sometimes say it’s for fans of Amy Harmon who like Stephen King or Stephen Graham Jones :)
