Earlier this year, I found myself in a difficult place.

It felt like more than my job had been taken from me. It felt like my identity had been stripped away with it.

Who was I without my corporate title? Without the work I had built soooo much of my life around?

I felt alone. Abandoned. I kept asking, “Why me?”

Looking back, I can see how consumed I was by my own storm. I forgot that I wasn’t the only one in the boat. Everyone around me was going through something too.

And with time, I started to understand that God wasn’t punishing me or trying to hurt me.

Maybe God was asking me to pause.

And in that pause, I began doing things I may never have made time for otherwise and discovering sides of myself I didn’t know were there.

It was still a difficult season. I won’t pretend it wasn’t. But it passed. I came back.

And now, months later, I can look back and see that God never left me in it. What felt like everything was falling apart was also quietly making room for something new.

Sometimes you only understand the season after you’ve lived through it.

Maybe the interruption wasn’t the end of the story. Maybe it was a call toward something greater.
