🕝 It's coming soon! On Thursday, October 15, @spacetostutter will be holding story-recording sessions with members of the Parkinson’s community for the Library of Dysfluent Voices, in collaboration with Parkinson Society British Columbia (PSBC).

The Library is an open-access, growing collection of recordings from people around the world who experience speech and communication dysfluencies. Participants who are interested in sharing their Parkinson's story and joining the Library can sign up for a 30-minute slot to do a voice recording with members of the SPACE team as well as PSBC staff.

Recording sessions will take place at the PSBC office, located at 1021 West Hastings St, 9th Floor, Vancouver, BC V6E 0C3.
During your session, you will have as much time as you need to speak. We’d be honoured to hear your story.

🧠 To acknowledge World Mental Health Day, recognized globally on October 10, we are taking a look at how mental health can be affected by Parkinson’s disease (PD). PD is classified as a movement disorder, but in recent years, mental health changes have been acknowledged as components of the disease. At least 50% of people with PD experience depression and/or anxiety. Mental health changes in PD can be caused by the reaction to your diagnosis, and to changes you experience as the disease progresses.

📣 As we at PSBC wrap up this year's SuperWalk, we wanted to highlight a community member's hard work. Todd Wallace, the volunteer support group facilitator and SuperWalk community organizer in Salmo, has been tirelessly promoting Parkinson's awareness since he was diagnosed in 2014. His efforts have not gone unnoticed; Salmo's Legion and Salmo's Healthcare Auxiliary Society both contacted him to donate to 2026's SuperWalk. Altogether, Salmo's SuperWalk raised over $7,000 in 2026.

❤️ Thank you, Todd, for the incredible effort and contributions to the Society and to the PD community in Salmo!
