FULL SHORT-FILM LINK IN BIO.

This is one of my favourite moments of “voel jy jonger” where performance, reality and the anticipation of the moment you are creating become one.

“Hiers net liefde” lê heeltyd saggies in ons oorskulp Magé Troskie.

Thank you @magetroskie allowing your vulnerability to lead you & thank you @kristenraath for never second guessing or hesitating. by @nimalodge

OFFICIALLY LIVE. LEWENDIG! (link in bio)

At its heart, the 7-minute cinematic music short, “voel jy jonger”, began with a simple desire: to preserve a feeling.

The film grew from two artists wanting to explore what it means to create from a place of love, where the work itself becomes both a gift and an act of complete vulnerability.

“It felt like Magé was revealing her heart, and I could receive it. I was fascinated by what happens in the quiet moments surrounding that offering, when words fall away, when the work no longer only belongs to you, and silence becomes the holder for presence, breath and the possibility of being fully seen. That’s the film I wanted to make.” — Emilie

While deeply personal, the film also quietly broadens the stories we see on screen. It presents queer love without explanation or spectacle, allowing it to exist with the same tenderness, awkwardness and universality as any other love story.

“Hierdie projek het moeiteloos vorm gevat. Alles het vreeslik natuurlik gevoel. Die spasie en die span. Dit was my eerste proper acting gig en ek was lekker geïntimideer, blaffing with the big dogs. Die song is in diep liefde geskryf en toe ons hierdie stuk skiet het dit gevoel ons gee almal weereens oor aan daai liefde. To surrender. To trust deeply. To allow close. To LOVE and let love, love.” — Magé

We honour the incredible creatives who walked this gentle journey with us. Thank you, dankie.

Pascale: “Hay Em, so what are you doing in the next 24hrs, I have gear, wanna shoot?”

How could we not?

Under less than 24hrs we created the intimate 7-minute cinematic short, that we will be releasing tomorrow called: “voel jy jonger”, with original music by @magetroskie

This isn’t a traditional music video, nor is it a conventional short film. Instead, it uses live performance as the emotional centre of a narrative, allowing music and cinema to exist as equal partners in telling the story.

It was the most rewarding and honest collaboration between independent musician @magetroskie , independent filmmaker @emiliebadenhorst , the gentle hand that is @pascaleschoeman and incredible actor @kristenraath

The film was built on trust and instinct. There wasn’t a finished script waiting for anyone. There was an emotional intention, a handful of story beats, and a group of people who trusted one another enough to discover the film together. Everything you see is improvised with clear intention and direction. We weren’t trying to perform emotion, we were trying to create the conditions where it could happen naturally.

That’s what makes the film feel alive!

Can we remind ourselves and one another to keep playing? by @nimalodge
