🎬 From Page to Screen: Transforming Visual Poetry by Pascalina Ofori

The Vision: Why Words Deserve a Lens

For a long time, I have carried a fire inside me. As an actress, poet, and storyteller, I have spent years pouring my heart, my observations, and my lived experiences into pages of poetry. But words on a page are only the beginning.

I believe poetry isn’t just meant to be read—it is meant to be felt, seen, and deeply experienced.

My dream is to take my original poetry and transform it into visually stunning, cinematic short films. I want to use the lens of cinema to give these poems faces, movement, and an undeniable voice. To kick off this journey, I am launching a campaign to produce my debut independent short film on location in Ghana.

The Debut Project: "The Rain Won’t Last Forever" (A Letter to Myself)

This film is a deeply personal, intimate exploration of heartbreak, mental exhaustion, and the messy, beautiful process of reclaiming your identity.

The story follows a young woman named Elara trapped in a dark bedroom, navigating a sea of shadows and heavy memories. Through fragmented flashbacks, a flickering room, and a literal box of old Polaroids, we witness her private grief, her feelings of being stripped of her identity, and her quiet struggle to clean up the wreckage left behind by lost love.

The film shifts beautifully from a claustrophobic night storm to a brilliant, sun-drenched morning on the coast. By releasing her "letter to herself" into the open wind and water, Elara chooses surrender over bitterness, finding her footing and stepping into her own victory. It is a cinematic reminder to anyone fighting a silent battle that the shadows eventually fade, and the rain does not last forever.

Why We Need a Foundation: The September Milestone

This is the year I am making this vision a reality. Film production requires immense preparation, discipline, script-locking, location scouting, and logistical planning. I am launching this campaign now so that we can secure our resources over the next few months, lock down pre-production, and officially begin filming on location this September.

Anyone want to join my club video?" 😭😂

When you're supposed to be extras in a scene but you bring absolute main character energy instead. 🎬💃 Having way too much fun on set between takes—moments like this make the long shoot hours completely worth it!

Giving you a little BTS look into our upcoming film project. Stay tuned.

I built this version. I had to have her.I didn’t just change the calendar, I changed the narrative.

Growth isn’t something you can fake, and it’s definitely not something you can undo. The version of me you used to know served her purpose, but she doesn’t live here anymore. Reintroducing myself to June with peace, focus, and a whole lot of gratitude for how far I’ve come. 🥂

Grateful for the storms that cleared my path and the sun that kept me going.
If you told my younger self where we’d be at 28, they wouldn't believe the strength we've found. The journey is the gift.
Planting new seeds in the garden of my 28th year. May they bloom in their own time. 🌸 by @pascalinao
