In another attempt to play the social media game (even though the well has run dry), here’s a #fbf of me flipping sticks and hair flying all over the place in the middle of some pop punk chops. One of my mainstay gigs in Atlanta for the past 6 years has been at @darkhorsekaraoke and it’s always a madhouse of a time with a pretty bad ass band and crew of folks. #darkhorsekaraoke #livebandkaraoke taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @paschalld

A little @mastodonrocks tip of the cap today for giggles. @creamale is always on point with his playing, but good Lordy he was cooking up some serious shit with the breakdown part of “Island”. Just devastating. I give it the old college try here, all other fills are probably not exact, but in the spirit of. A salute to one of the baddest drummers and baddest bands still grinding, and of course forever gratitude to Mr @bhinds 🫡. #mastodon #branndailor #drumcover #brenthinds taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @paschalld

RIP Ike Willis

I’m a few days late on this, but I wanted to pay my respects to a man I can say I’m super grateful to have played music with and shared many laughs and wacky moments with on and off stage.

To say that Zappa’s “Joes Garage” & “Shut Up ‘N Play Yer Guitar” albums were game changers for me are understatements of the century, so getting the chance to play (and learn……hoo boy especially LEARN) that music and more backing up the Golden Voice himself was a huge honor. Hearing stories from Ike about touring with Frank and Vinnie back in the day I still get giddy thinking about.

I also need to give a shout out to Scott Schroen wherever he may be for getting me on the gig, and of course meeting and playing with the great @funklejam , as well as meeting all sorts of weird ass characters and friends from afar. I’d say doing this gig was an eye opener for me when it came to the realities of touring, the business in general, and all sorts of other odd, sometimes dark existential things that come with that territory.

But still, the music was there, the hang was there, and adventures were had, so at the end of the day “music is the best.”—FZ

My condolences go out to his family and all Zappa fans. We lost a great one. Crank some Frank always, but definitely crank some with Ike. RIP dude you’re officially outside now.

(NOTE: Like the Vaultmeister at Zappa’s estate, I also have old footage I wanted to dig up from older technology that no one uses anymore, there’s only a few little excerpts I’ll use here because I still don’t know what the copyright protocol is for the ZFT and posting his music now.) #zappa #frankzappa #ikewillis #joesgarage by @paschalld

Drum sessions with @paschalld have been a blast. Here’s a few of my favorite moments from the day.

The last time I had the opportunity to work with him was 6 years ago when he tracked drums for my songs ‘Secret to the Grave’, ‘Blackfield’, ‘King of the Bottomless Pit’, ‘Sadistically Seductive’, and ‘The Gallows of Love’.

If you have a session coming up and need a drummer, I highly recommend you reach out to him. He’s a great dude, fantastic energy, and an absolute beast behind the kit.

Buddy Boi and his new pal Squeamus (originally named by my roomie as Remus, but he’s a squeaker, so Remus + Squeaker= Squeamus). They hang with each other every day in my room and I would certainly like to believe they telepathically communicate with each other. Everyone have a great day by @paschalld
