Phillip A. Schein is an American multidisciplinary visual artist, Advertising Art Director, AI strategist, entrepreneur and creative problem-solver whose career has moved continuously across art, advertising, publishing, education, technology and business. Trained as an artist and editorial illustrator, Schein began his career in New York advertising, where visual storytelling became the foundation for a broader practice spanning more than four decades. His trajectory expanded into product development, digital innovation, corporate leadership, entrepreneurship and the building and transformation of companies—experiences that continue to inform his exploration of how technology changes human behavior, communication and culture. Today, at 64, that trajectory has never stopped. A relatively late adopter of artificial intelligence, Schein quickly recognized generative AI not as a replacement for artistic thinking, but as another medium through which to extend it. His AI-driven generative art has since been published in Europe, and most recently he was selected as one of 20 winning artists for a 15-image editorial series presenting his artistic vision of the contemporary state of advertising. He was especially honored to learn that the work—its editorial imagery and underlying subliminal narrative—was among the most viewed and loved by the curatorial committee. His current practice brings together the instincts of an artist and Advertising Art Director with the systems thinking of a technologist and entrepreneur. Working across generative image, video and emerging media, Schein is currently under consideration for artist residencies in China, Italy, Australia and Hunga by @paschein
