🗣️ “Not everyone who can teach the steps can teach the culture.”

Afro dance is more than steps - it is culture, history, language, and identity. 🤲🏾

As these styles continue to grow in popularity, it’s important to learn from teachers who have invested time in understanding the foundations, cultural context, and origins of the dances they teach. Authentic Afro dance education goes beyond choreography; it carries stories, traditions, and knowledge passed down through generations. 🧬

Not every class offers that depth. Choosing to learn from qualified instructors helps preserve the integrity of the culture, honors the communities these dances come from, and allows students to connect with the movement in a more meaningful way.

Respect the roots. Learn the foundations. Honor the culture. ✊🏾🌍✨#AfroDance #AfricanDance #dancewithpurpose #HonorTheRoots #afro by @passionandpurposemovement
