The saber is one of the few swords that endured well into the early 20th century, due in part to its effectiveness as a cavalry weapon across many cultures. One of the earliest known examples of a “proto-saber” dates to the mid-7th century, discovered in an Avar grave in Romania.

This class will explore saber techniques from a range of traditions, including Persian, British, Hungarian, Polish, and Cossack systems.

The workshop will be co-taught by Bizhan Khodabandeh and Patrick Glynn, both of whom have extensive experience in historical weapons and hand-to-hand martial arts.

📅 Date: Sunday, December 14th
📍 Location: Gallery5
⏰ Workshop Times:
• 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
💲 Cost: $25 per session
