Hot girls go birding!
Austin, TX
🪺New birders of all kinds welcome.
Next outing: Oct 11th
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hello birdy people -

October is so busy, promise this will be an in and out situation. Easy parking, easy walk, and a great start to your week if I do say so myself.

Upcoming - Warbler Woods? McKinney Falls? Balcones? Send your ideas and let us know if you’d be willing to road trip it!

As always, binos, guides, snack provided. This is a great first birding, if you’re into that. by @patchbirdingclub

Back by popular demand - Hornsby Bend!

A “patch” is an area frequented repeatedly by a birder for observation and study. Your patch may be your backyard, a neighborhood park, or even Austin’s premier water processing facility.

Join us at the ponds, bird blind, and adjacent trails for some chill birding. This is a great first birding outing. Remember to bring ID, sun protection, and whatever binos/birding equipment you like.

Patch will arrive with extra binos, bird guides, and snacks!

(It’s okay if you don’t know the names of all the birds. They don’t know their names either.) taken in Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory by @patchbirdingclub

Love it or hate it, summer is fading fast. Join Patch for an easy paddle down Lady Bird Lake in place of our regularly scheduled walks.

Bring: payment for rentals, desired waterproofing, sun protection

Receive: a loosely guided paddle, binoculars and guides for borrow, an evening spent satisfying your curiosity

As always, bring yourself or bring a friend. No experience or know-how needed. Maybe we migrate to dinner after? by @patchbirdingclub

Birds are always doing somethin! 🪺

Beginner friendly birding walk at Roy G, 10:30 next Sunday.

You don’t need your own binos, and snacks are lovingly provided.

Bring your friend and then go get tacos.
Come alone and then go get your Barton on.
Really no bad way to do it!

PS I found this blue eggshell under a tree and a couple weeks later this nest under the SAME TREE. It was skillfully made with twigs and plastic and animal fur. by @patchbirdingclub

It’s hot. You don’t want to be outside. But the birds are calling, and we gotta go. This month is a chill birding experience - there won’t be much trekking. If you’ve never birded before, this is a great opportunity.

Meet us at 10:30am at 1122 S 3rd for some coffee and snacks, then we’ll walk next door to Nicholas Dawson Park. If you want to learn the basics: how to find birds, work binoculars, get resources, etc. this is a great month to come. Come late, or for a little, and if it sucks, De Nada is next door. :)

Thanks to Emma for hosting us for pre-stroll coffee. As always, some snacks, binoculars, birding guides available to borrow. taken in Nicholas Dawson Park by @patchbirdingclub

Bird is the word!
Sunday morning Commons Ford trip for birds and a dip.

Never birded? Never been to Commons Ford? Never a better time than the present.

Come for the delight of walking together and observing nature’s wonder, stay for the relief of jumping in the river after.

Thanks Alex for the pic :) by @patchbirdingclub

Hey chicks, join us for our first birding walk!

This social club is for anyone that wants to learn more about birds and the natural world - this isn’t really a guided walk, we all learn together!

Recommended: Binoculars, sun protection, your desired reference materials (free EBird and Merlin apps, guidebooks, etc.)

Can’t wait to see yall! 🪺 Feel free to DM if you need any help or have questions! by @patchbirdingclub
