Friday nights in LA are a movie for some, but for Patrick Ball, his Friday nights are currently being taken up by theatre instead. After his major mainstream success from starring as Frank Langdon in the critically acclaimed television show ‘The Pitt’, Patrick Ball has returned to the stage for his recent production of ‘Hamlet’ being held at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. Ball’s theatre background is extensive and extremely impressive. As a North Carolina native, he frequently mentions his time spent at UNC Greensboro as well as his time at Yale School of Drama where he once held the record for participating in the most Shakespeare productions (a total of 7 or 8, Ball mentions in an interview with KCAL). Starting with ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ at age fifteen, Ball is well versed in Shakespeare and has said that Hamlet was his “white whale,” a character he had always wanted to play. Now, he gets to do so in Robert O’Hara’s film noir take on the centuries old play in this spicy, thrilling, and quirky production. While Ball has garnered some newfound fame, he has been able to stay incredibly kind and humble. After a crazy week, PatCrave was able to secure an interview with Patrick where we were able to ask some fun-loving and intriguing questions for the actor about his taste, his career, and his future.
