Today's discovery: More "pop up" wildflowers in my yard. Last one a planted grape colored flowering bush near our patio. Spring is so inspiring. by @patcsenecal

Earth Day in Durango!
Another chance for a vibrant community to come together. Animal costumes galore, educational displays, music and food of course. For our UU booth Paul made sturdy poster stands and I trimmed bushes while others dug weeds at our UU campus. by @patcsenecal

We celebrated With friends. I helped host 50 folks at a potluck at UU Fellowship. Delicious food. Satisfying conersations. Guests from around the region and Peru. Everyone pitching in to make white tablecloth places with fall leaves and roses. Many staying to clean up with guidance from two hardy souls who stayed till all dishes washed! Grateful some more. by @patcsenecal

Last week was full of interesting and fun activities: From tea times with friends, yoga, tai chi and walks on our mmountain to League of Women Voters hosting a well attended panel of unhoused people who gave us a glimpse of life in that community. Then Sat am a class on Mysticism and Sunday the blessing of the animals at UU. The dogs barked right at the appropriate times at the end of various presentations. by @patcsenecal

This weekend's fun was the Fall Festival at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango. 9 activity tables. Hospitality ( my area) hosted coffee and 2 tables. One table a Selfie set up built by two of the youth that volunteer with Hospitality. The other a " make a pumpkin" from a mandarin orange and celery. Our premier Hospitality volunteer Joanne Badgely, adde googily eyes and a nose to the orange for real pzazz.
Paul and I came as an unconnected set of a #2 Pencil and some sort of farmer? Cowpoke? Either way his character was intent on donut eating, mine on chomping candy. by @patcsenecal

An Australian friend gave a challenge to p a int her grotto - her place of peace and gatherings. I worked with watercolors over 2 months, which are a new medium for me. What discoveries of techniques and patience after my more rambunctious style in pastels. Her photo on the left. My rendition on the right. Give me your challdnge if you want! by @patcsenecal

I hardly know where go begin as our "Portugal" Carder family leaves Durango after 2.5 weeks of a delightful, emotional, laughing, exploring vacation with us.
But I will begin with the joy of having them in our guest house, a hop and a skip for Keal to pop in at 6:30 am for breakfast cooking, getting in his promised single pushup for the day, scrabble or dogopoly, discovering "birding" could be a hobby, walking Corky with deer and rabbit encounters, creating a clubhouse from an unused dog house, and continuous conversation ( Keal has many thoughts and opinions at nearly 10 years old about the way the universe works: "you cant defy gravity", E=MC squared, said many times, "I am a baker", to "I like seeing the bear- "Here, grandma, is a picture of a bear I got my mom to buy for you"
More adventures at other times of the day to come. by @patcsenecal

Here's an accident that happened to a guest parking in our garden instead of the correct space! All ended well for car and garden due to a Very skilled towtruck driver. All in the life of a senior citizen I guess. by @patcsenecal

Paul had a birthday yesterday...cant say the number but it is "2 upright infinity symbols" as one friend said from Unitarian Universalist event we were attending. Then off for brunch at the newly located College Cafe on 9th. We will miss the funky old wooden walls and lingering smells embedded deep, as we had gone there since 1994 when we first found our eventual home in Durango. But the new spiffy place had a fun waitress and atmosphere.
Then spontaneously I invited neighbors for drinks, jumbalaya and cornbread. And 8 were available! After the group downed a bottle of Artizan gin and tonics and laughed our way tbrough an off-key Happy Birthday song, the day ended with Paul asleep in his favorite place- the couch with the TV still on. by @patcsenecal
