I’ve been listening to this Stevie EP and processing it alone and with friends and I’ve decided Stevie Wonder isn’t blind. Not in the ways that matter.

He’s spent a lifetime trying to teach us how to see. To see the world beyond what our eyes can capture. To recognize love beyond what our fears will allow. To imagine a humanity that exists beyond the limitations of our vision.

Perhaps the great irony is that we’ve mistaken sight for seeing, and seeing for understanding.

In Stevie’s world, we are the ones who cannot see. We have eyes, but lack vision. We witness beauty but fail to recognize it. We encounter love but struggle to practice it.

And the more I think about it, the more I suspect Stevie has been trying to tell us something all along.

Maybe blindness was never about what he couldn’t see, but what we refuse to. by @patdshaf

AI is like being at a job where the company hires a new employee, asks you to train them, watches you teach them everything you know, and then 90 days later fires you and gives them your job.

Except now, we’re doing this to ourselves.

We are building the machine, teaching it our skills, feeding it our knowledge, and then acting surprised when it learns how to make us economically unnecessary.

Humanity may be the first species to systematically train its own replacement—and call it innovation.
