🌿 For some people, dental fear means making an appointment - and canceling it again and again for years. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you won’t be judged here. We can work through this together, one small step at a time. Your first visit can simply be meeting us, seeing the office, and getting a feel for whether we’re the right fit for you.

🌿 At another visit, we may gently work toward X-rays and a digital scan, with your permission and breaks whenever you need them. Together, we’ll make a plan for the cleaning or gum therapy you need, taking your comfort and any urgent concerns into account. You don’t have to feel ready for everything to take that first step. by @patersondds

👄 “I’m just here for a cleaning.”
We hear this all the time - but it’s important to differentiate that not every hygiene visit is “just a cleaning.”
There are actually many different hygiene and periodontal therapies your hygienist may perform, ranging from routine preventive care for a healthy mouth to therapies for gingival inflammation, periodontal disease, heavy bacterial burden, and ongoing periodontal maintenance.
What you need depends on what we actually find: your diagnosis, level of inflammation, calculus, bone and attachment loss, periodontal history, oral microbiome, and your systemic health.

❓Think about it this way…
If your physician told you that you have an active disease, you wouldn’t ask them to ignore the disease and just do your annual physical, right?
So why do we expect that from our hygienist?
A cleaning will not treat active disease.
When inflammation or periodontal disease is present, our goal isn’t simply to make your teeth feel clean. We’re working to disrupt harmful bacterial biofilm, reduce inflammation and pathogenic burden, treat disease, and create an oral environment that supports healing and long-term health.

🚨 Your gums are living tissue.
Your mouth has a microbiome.
And your oral health is intimately connected to the rest of your body.
Sometimes you need prevention.
Sometimes you need therapy.
Sometimes you need treatment or surgery. by @patersondds

🌿 Health decisions should never be made from a place of fear. Fear-based headlines and scare tactics can push us into reactive choices instead of informed ones. Slow down, ask questions, review the evidence, and work with healthcare providers who believe in transparent, science-based informed consent. The best decisions come from understanding - not fear.

❓ Have you ever made a health decision because you were scared rather than fully informed?

➡️ I know I have. Looking back, I’ve made plenty of decisions from a place of fear. As I’ve learned more, I’ve realized the importance of slowing down, asking better questions, and seeking evidence over emotion. I’m still learning too, and I’m committed to making decisions based on knowledge, not fear.

🌿 One thing I witnessed throughout my years in dentistry - both as an associate and now as a practice owner - is how often disrespectful behavior toward dental teams is simply accepted as “part of the job.” Too many team members have been expected to tolerate yelling, insults, profanity, or intimidation while continuing to smile and provide care. That has never sat right with me. When I built my own practice, I made a commitment that our team would work in an environment where they feel safe, valued, and protected. We will always treat our patients with kindness, compassion, and respect, and we expect the same in return. Setting boundaries isn’t about being unkind - it’s about creating a healthy workplace where everyone is treated with dignity. Everyone deserves it! by @patersondds

✨ Something you may not know about me:

15 years ago today, I summited Mount Kilimanjaro. Standing on top of Africa was my childhood dream. I was incredibly lucky to have my husband by my side, joining me on this challenging adventure. We spent 7 days on the mountain, trekking to the summit and back. To be able to follow my heart, work hard, make sacrifices, and accomplish this feat is something I’ll always be grateful for. This remains one of my most cherished experiences and serves as a reminder to never stop dreaming and keep pursuing what matters most to you ✨

PS. It took a village to help us make this dream a reality. It took months of training, pushing through mental and physical challenges, and giving up things we would have enjoyed during that time so we could pursue this goal. Looking back, every sacrifice was worth it. I hope to return and do it again one day with our kids. ❤️ by @patersondds

🌿 At Link Dental Health, we use the Fotona laser for all of our restorative procedures because it allows us to treat teeth with incredible precision while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible. The laser also helps reduce bacteria, can minimize the need for numbing in many cases, and often results in less sensitivity and a more comfortable experience during and after treatment. It’s one of the many ways we’re making dental care gentler, more precise, and focused on your long-term oral health. by @patersondds

🌿 The days of simply “cleaning and hoping for the best” are over. Modern dentistry gives us powerful diagnostic tools to identify the specific pathogens, inflammation, and risk factors contributing to gum disease. When we test before we treat, we can create targeted, personalized treatment plans that address the root cause - not just the symptoms.
Better data.
Better treatment.
Better results. 💥 by @patersondds
