Feliz dia das crianças! Every day, I celebrate the privilege of being your mom. You teach me so much about resilience, love, and how to become a better person.

It isn’t always easy—and we’re all learning along the way—but I hope I’m teaching you to be kind, respectful people who see and embrace differences. May you grow up knowing that there’s no place for prejudice, and that treating others with empathy and kindness always matters.

We spent practically the whole month celebrating Gabriel—he’s such a party boy, how could we do anything different?

This year, he asked for a LEGO-themed pool party and a celebration at LEGOLAND. Mission accomplished! Saturday was just the way he wanted it: decorations he made himself, the friends he asked for, and a true best day ever. We spent 10 hours at the resort, enjoying the pool, sunshine, laughter, and all the fun—then ended the night with s’mores and Frozen playing on an improvised big screen.

On Sunday, even though we were exhausted, we still spent the day at LEGOLAND. Seeing his excitement on the rides and making these memories together made it all worth it.

Thank goodness birthdays only come once a year, because this mom needs a post-party vacation. 😂 Thank you everyone that celebrated him with us! ❤️🎉 taken in San Diego, California by @paticardi

Gratitude post: Today was about so much more than attending a blood drive.

Two of my dear friends organized this incredible event to help provide blood for children fighting cancer, and I knew I wanted to be there to support them. But more importantly, I wanted my children there with me—because some lessons are taught with words, while others need to be witnessed.

I wanted my boys to see what happens when people choose to care. When a community comes together because somewhere, a child and a family are living through the unimaginable—and something as simple and powerful as donating blood can give them hope, strength, and another chance.

As a mother, I cannot think about a sick child without thinking about their mother. The fear she carries. The prayers whispered in hospital rooms. The desperate wish to take her child’s pain away. And I cannot imagine a greater act of love than strangers showing up to say: “Your child’s life matters to me, too.”

That is the world I want my boys to grow up in—a world where we do not look away from someone else’s suffering. Where community means standing beside one another, giving what we can, and remembering that every child is somebody’s entire world.

Today, my boys saw generosity in action. They learned that heroes do not always wear capes—sometimes they roll up their sleeves and give a part of themselves so that a child they may never meet can keep fighting.

I hope they remember today. I hope they grow up knowing that kindness is not only something we feel—it is something we choose, practice, and pass forward. And even when we cannot fix everything, we can still show up. We can still give. We can still care. We can still become part of someone’s hope.

I am incredibly proud of my friends for turning compassion into action, and deeply grateful that my children witnessed the extraordinary power of ordinary people choosing to help.

Today, we showed up for children fighting battles no child should ever have to fight. We showed up for their families. We showed up for hope. ❤️🩸

Gabriel is 5. 💙

E como ele ama celebrar a vida — igualzinho à mãe —, desde o primeiro dia do mês acorda perguntando: “É hoje o meu aniversário?”. Pra ele, aniversário não é apenas um dia: é uma temporada inteira de expectativa, alegria e coração acelerado. E ai de nós se não comemorarmos o mês inteiro! 🫣

Ele sente tudo por inteiro. É sensível, intenso, carinhoso e rabujento. Vive a alegria com o corpo todo, ama com abraços apertados e enfrenta qualquer injustiça com a indignação de quem nasceu justiceiro. Onde chega, tudo ganha mais cor, movimento e um pouquinho de drama — porque ser Gabriel é viver o mundo em volume máximo.

Meu filho, que você nunca perca essa alegria contagiante, seu coração sensível e a coragem de ser exatamente quem é. Feliz 5 anos! Que privilégio ser sua mãe. Eu te amo mais do que qualquer texto conseguiria explicar. 💙 by @paticardi

Agosto ❤️

Foi um mês difícil. Daqueles que fazem a gente enxergar coisas que talvez estivesse evitando há muito tempo.

Aprendi que estar incluída não significa pertencer e que estar cercada de pessoas não significa ter conexões profundas.

Também aprendi algo sobre mim: eu me entrego demais. Gosto rápido, confio rápido, conto demais 😂. Sempre achei que ser um livro aberto fosse simplesmente parte de quem eu sou. Talvez continue sendo, mas estou aprendendo que ser autêntica não significa dar a todo mundo acesso às partes mais vulneráveis de mim.

Quero gastar menos energia tentando entender por que alguém não me escolheu e prestar mais atenção em quem eu escolho.

E no meio de tudo isso, a vida continuou acontecendo. Teve sol, piscina, cachorro, criança, bagunça, cansaço, risada, amor e até coisas literalmente caindo pela casa 😂.

Olhando essas fotos, percebo que mesmo nos meses difíceis ainda existe muita coisa boa acontecendo enquanto a gente tenta se encontrar.

Agosto doeu, mas também me ensinou bastante.

🎒 First day of school ❤️ E lá foram eles. 🥹

Benjamin, começando o 3rd grade. Gabriel, começando o UTK.

Para eles, um novo ano escolar. Para mim, mais um daqueles dias em que ser mãe significa sentir orgulho, alegria, ansiedade e uma saudade antecipada, tudo ao mesmo tempo.

Benjamin foi com aquele jeitinho mais sério, um pouco nervoso com o que estava por vir. E eu queria poder guardar todos os medos dele no meu bolso e dizer: vai, meu amor. Você consegue. Porque eu sei o quanto algumas coisas podem exigir mais dele — e sei também o quanto ele é capaz.

E meu pequeno Gabriel… pela primeira vez indo para a escola dos grandes, de uniforme, mochila nas costas, pronto para passar o dia inteiro longe de mim. Como assim aquele meu bebê já está no UTK? 😭

Hoje eu vi meus dois meninos entrando juntos em uma nova fase. A mesma escola, cada um construindo o seu próprio caminho.

Enquanto eles crescem, eu vou aprendendo essa parte tão difícil e tão bonita da maternidade: dar raízes suficientes para que eles se sintam seguros e, aos pouquinhos, ter coragem de deixá-los criar asas.

Que seja um ano de muito aprendizado, mas principalmente de acolhimento, amizades, confiança, descobertas e felicidade.

One of the greatest lessons of adulthood is realizing that many of our frustrations come from the expectations we create of other people.

We expect to receive the same affection we give, the same consideration we show, the same loyalty we offer, and the same sincerity with which we choose to live.

But people see the world in different ways. Not everyone loves the way you love. Not everyone values what you value.

So, learn to place fewer expectations on the actions of others and invest more energy in building your own life. Protect your peace, stay true to your principles, guard your heart, and never abandon who you are just to be accepted by someone else.

Those who truly deserve to remain in your life will never require you to diminish your essence just to fit their expectations.

In the end, peace comes when you understand that you cannot control anyone else’s heart, but you can choose where to place your own. And perhaps that is one of the greatest expressions of self-love a person can learn.
