My son, Brent Oplotnik made the best decision of his life when he married this gorgeous, loving, selfless girl, Marissa McLendon Oplotnik! They honored our daughter by marrying on her birthday! It was a gift to give for a lifetime! And then they blessed us with two of the best sons, Lukas and Felix, to love for the rest of our lives and beyond! Happy Anniversary! Meet my new car! Beautiful! Right? But not trustworthy and KIA doesn’t care! In 6 months time with less than 8000 miles on it, repairs have cost almost $2000.00!! Best warranty on any car? Not if they decide the issue was from a road hazard! 1st damage was. Something fell out of a pickup bed in front of me and , although I straddled it, it was high enough to damage underneath. Bad luck. 2nd time, on the way to a family wedding, car suddenly lost power and messages started alerting me to pull over. Check Hybrid System? I’m 78! I thought - “ No problem! I have KIA roadside assistance. Big joke! Rang for 45 minutes . No answer. Called my dealership Service Dept. Couldn’t help without the car. We live in OKC and were stranded on the turnpike 3 miles from Big Cabin! Finally after 30 more minutes got through to KIA Connect. Sent me a text with a tow company out of Tulsa and said tow would be to KIA dealership in Broken Arrow. Almost 3 more hours went by so I Googled the tow company. Informed me they were swamped and no ETA! Told me to leave the keys in the cupholder and unlock the car!! Really? Side of the busy turnpike? Expensive new car???? Called our son and he made the trip to rescue us. Said pink coolant all over the road under my car!! He got distilled water and temporarily refilled coolant and , because KIA cancelled the tow(why?) he followed us back to Brolen Arrow and we dropped off the car.
Worse was the diagnosis. A rock had gone through the pretty grille and punctured the hybrid system, leaking out all the coolant! Missed part of the wedding. No car for a week because no loaner from KIA available. 2025 KIA Sorento LX only 6 months old- low mileage- KIA DENIED ANY PAYMENT. Dealer admitted it could happen again!!!! So BUYER BEWARE. Read the fine print!! I don’t feel safe I. This car anymore but I’m told I’m stuck! Picture of the hybrid system shows multiple rocks have come through! BUYER WARNING!!!! by @patoplotnik
