Hello family and friends! ⁣
⁣
We are one week away from launching our new church plant in Norcross, GA and would like to officially introduce ourselves! We’d like to start off by sharing the meaning and vision behind our name: 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦. ⁣
⁣
What is 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢?⁣
Patria (πατριά) is the Greek word Apostle Paul uses for “family” (more accurately translated “family of families) that derives its name from the Father (Patér), is strengthened by the Spirit, and is a dwelling place of Christ through faith to know and make known the full love of God on the earth. (Ephesians 3:14-21)⁣
⁣
Why 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦?⁣
Our aim is to learn to walk out the words and way of Jesus by sharing life, burdens, and prayers in the context of family — and the house is where the family gathers. Moreover, we believe that we ourselves are being built together into a house of God by the Spirit (Ephesians 2:22).⁣

If God is the glue and the head, friendship SHOULD work

Have you ever had or been that “friend” who mostly talks about themselves, dumps, and is always taking?

That’s easy to identify as a BAD friend
So what makes a good friend?

John 11 might surprise you
Lazarus has died. Jesus hears the news.

How does He show up?
He delays
He leads His friends into suffering
He confronts them in truth and love

Wait… isn’t a good friend supposed to show up? Make things easier? Keep you from hurting?

But Jesus wasn’t led by fear

If you want to be a bad friend, let fear form your decisions.

Jesus, the perfect friend, only does what the Father says. He trusts His timing and His will.

And He doesn’t model friendship as a supernatural being, but as a man who walks with people, loves them, suffers with them, and lays down His life for them. by @patria.house

NEXTGEN outing🐝 by @patria.house

If sin is done against you YOU still have a CHOICE to not respond in a sinful way

“In those days people will no longer say, ‘The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’ Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes, their own teeth will be set on edge.”
-Jeremiah 31:29-33

This is the new covenant, a promise from God, that we will not be victims of other people’s responsibilities

YOU are responsible for YOUR daily choices Those choices either pull the Gap of Heaven and hell closer or further apart

He is inviting you, in every moment, to choose Him

When we surrender our will to His, God doesn’t just break the chains of sin and bondage. He redeems what was meant for evil and transforms it into something that displays His glory.

Your past may explain your wounds, but it does not determine your obedience today by @patria.house

Summer break is coming to an end😭

But our hearts are so grateful and expectant for another year with our amazing NEXTGEN!

Children have a beautiful way of naturally modeling dependence, wonder, and curiosity so… before we rush past the silliness, the crying out, and the endless questions, may we slow down and take notice of the posture that Jesus invites

Comment a quick prayer for our NEXTGEN🤍 by @patria.house

What brings you to church on a Sunday?

You are probably searching for something
Yearning but never satisfied
But are you asking the right question…

From prison, John the Baptist asks question “are You the one?”

Think about that
John didn’t ask Jesus to free him
He didn’t ask for justice
He didn’t ask for a miracle
He simply wanted to know “Are You the One?”

It would’ve been impossible for John to recognize that Jesus is the Messiah if he came with his own agenda
Are you placing a condition on your relationship with God that hinders you from being in complete connection with Him?

Kingdom of god is one of weakness and sacrifice

Jesus didn’t come to vindicate the strong but he came to rescue the weak

Do you accept the offense that you are weak?
The offense of Jesus is that we are weak
But it’s the way we enter the kingdom of God

When someone offers help when you didn’t ask, it’s irritating, it’s offensive
If you recognize the need, that same help is life changing
Do you recognize your need for Him? by @patria.house

Thank you @macdonaldjosh for walking us through the storyline of God 🙌

“Not only are you saved from his wrath. Not only are your sins forgiven. But you know if you put your faith in Jesus, you’re in right standing with God. you are righteous before him.”

Not by our works but ONLY by the blood of Christ

Our community was so blessed to hear the gospel proclaimed again! May we never graduate from the good news of Jesus🤍 by @patria.house

Have you ever looked across the room and thought, “Why do they worship like that”

Maybe that’s the beauty of the body of Christ
We’re all wired differently
We all respond differently
We all carry different stories

But when we lift our eyes, we’re standing before the same God🤍 by @patria.house
