So true. My niece’s son Max was a toddler when he presented with symptoms of what seemed like the flu. It was a viral disease that attacked his brain and the normal functioning of his body and mind. He has been severely handicapped ever since. They were able to save his life but he spent months in the hospital before being transferred to a rehab facility for nearly a year. No one in our family or the wealthiest of anyone we knew had the kind of insurance coverage or money that needed to cover the expenses that came with the mountains of bills. It wasn’t anyone’s fault. It wasn’t because anyone was lazy or didn’t work hard. I’ve always wondered what the people who claim differently would do in a similarly impossible situation and how they would feel being accused of the awful things people say who run their ignorant, nasty mouths. We were told many times over the years to relieve ourselves of the “burden” of taking care of him by putting him in an institution. Doing so is INFINITELY more expensive when considering unforeseen demands on government benefits. It wasn’t anyone’s fault a no win situation but we love Max and he meant and still does mean everything to us.

Until you walk in someone else’s shoes and know what they are doing and going through, you really should keep your ignorant trap shut. by @patrice_johnston

Not physically jumping for joy 🤩 but my spirits are higher than the heavens. The lady in charge of the shelter left a message to call her. I couldn’t guess why but I sensed someone had made application to adopt my girl Tia Loochie. That’s exactly what it was about. After discussing the options, the decision was made that I will permanently be Loo’s foster mother. I’m relieved. I’m overjoyed. I’m grateful. Loochie is mine. And I’m hers.
